About Firdavs
I had been a journalist for almost 15 years. And now I am a full-time guide and a tour operator in Samarkand. Love to meet new people, learn about different cultures. To me, it's a pleasure and collecting pieces of a huge puzzle, understanding the world, understanding oneself. Living some period of my life in the USA and Russia has not only improved my language skills but also shaped my cosmopolite personality. Although, the city I was born in has a vivid culture like the turquoise mosaics of ancient buildings of Samarkand. Of course, in hot weather, it's better to take a car to travel around, but I don't mind and actually enjoy more walking through the city telling stories of the past to my guests. I prefer calling tourists guests. Being brought up in Uzbek family, I strongly believe that one should be always hospitable. The Uzbek proverb says: "Respect your guest, as you respect your father". While telling the history of ancient Samarkand, Shahrisabz, Urgut, I rely on facts (journalistic habit) and of course share beautiful myths and legends which passed mouth-to-mouth through centuries. And of course, the safety of guests is of my first concern. Although, Uzbekistan is one of the safest countries in the world. People are warm, hospitable and always helpful. I enjoy my tours when my guests enjoy them. Only then I feel fulfillment at my work. This has become my lifestyle and commitment.

Walk Through Samarkand
Starts in Самарканд, Самарканд, Узбекистан
If you're tough enough and can easily bear weather conditions, or just enjoy walking, then you probably don't need a vehicle to see all highlights of Samarkand. I'm a guide who can show you all on feet. Challenge me and join for a walk through the city. This excursion lasts one day, but check my other listings if you wish to stay for two days and see even more. The only time when we may need a vehicle is when we go for a lunch to a special place afar from the sightseeing areas, or it depends on your hotel location. Then we can take a cab or just stop for lunch on the way, and, believe me, we've got lots of places to enjoy mouthwatering uzbek cuisine.

This tour went very well from start to finish. Firdavs' communication was excellent, and he checked on me every day. Everything happened as expected, local guides were knowledgeable and helpful, and the accommodation was well located, often in walking distance of major sites. The whole tour went off without a hitch. I recommend Firdavs.
