Walk Through Samarkand

Day 1: Самарканд, Узбекистан

Start our journey from your hotel. Usually, we start with well-fit guests from the Mausoleum of Temurids. The unique place where Amir Temur - great ruler of Medieval empire and his relatives rest in peace. Gold guilded architectural masterpiece with turquoise dome is believed to have served as a prototype for the Taj Mahal in India. Let's check out if it's true and then go on exploring the awesome city. On our way through amazing sites visit Registan square - three magnificent madrassahs, universities of middle ages, forming a square which had been a cultural, educational, trade center of the city for almost 5 centuries. Have lunch either eating at a local restaurant or visit Siab Bazar - ancient market, filling your stomach trying fruits and sweets you are offered to try. Buy a snack to enjoy it later. Next stop - Mosque of Amir Temur, which locals call Bibi-Khonim - one of the four biggest mosques of medieval world. Now when we've got "refueled", walk to Khazraty Khyzr Mosque and go all the way to a necropolis that astonishes with blue mosaics and majolica. Shaped during almost 10 centuries - Shohi Zinda ensemble is on our way to the next site. And the last but not least, visit the Observatory of Mirzo Ulughbek, a brilliant scientist, astronomer and the king who ruled in Samarkand in XV century. The scholar's works have been served as guidebooks for scientists in East and West. And that's where the excursion ends. To get to the hotel you'll probably need a cab. But believe me it's completely safe, comfortable and cheep. So most likely you'll be delighted to take one to get back to the hotel. Note, we can arrange our tour according to your wish.
