My name is Khushvakt, and I am a local tour guide and tour operator based in Uzbekistan. For the past several years, I have been helping travelers discover not only the famous Silk Road monuments but also the authentic culture, traditions, and everyday life of Central Asia.
I specialize in cultural experiences, historical tours, mountain adventures, village life, cycling tours, food experiences, and cross-border trips to Tajikistan's beautiful Fann Mountains. From Samarkand Fann Mountains 7 Lakes & Kulikalon Lake Hike
Starts in Самарканд, Самарканд, Узбекистан
Option 1: Seven Lakes Day Trip (1 Day)
Leave the bustling streets of Samarkand behind and travel toward the mountains of neighboring Tajikistan. After an early hotel pickup, drive comfortably to the Uzbek-Tajik border where your guide-driver from Uzbekistan will assist you throughout the crossing process.
Once in Tajikistan, continue into the beautiful Fann Mountains, where deep valleys, mountain rivers, and dramatic landscapes await.
The highlight of the day is Haftkul, the famous Seven Lakes of Tajikistan. The lakes are arranged like steps climbing higher into the mountains, and each one has its own unique color, atmosphere, and local legend.
Along the route, pass through remote mountain villages where traditional Tajik life continues much as it has for generations. Learn about local customs, stories, and the cultural significance of the lakes.
Option 2: Seven Lakes and Kulikalon Adventure (2 Days)
After exploring the Seven Lakes on the first day, spend the night in Panjakent before continuing into the higher mountains on day two.
The second day begins with a transfer to Artuch, one of the main gateways to trekking in the Fann Mountains. From here, accompanied by a local mountain guide, begin the hike toward the spectacular Kulikalon Lakes.
Situated at approximately 2,800 to 3,000 meters above sea level, Kulikalon is one of the most beautiful alpine lake systems in Central Asia. The route passes through alpine meadows, juniper forests, granite cliffs, and dramatic mountain scenery surrounded by some of the highest peaks of the Fann Mountains.
Important: Difficulty Level
The hike to Kulikalon is physically demanding and should not be underestimated.
The trail includes long uphill sections, high altitude with thinner air, rocky and uneven terrain, several hours of continuous hiking
This experience is recommended for travelers with good physical fitness and a genuine interest in mountain trekking.
