Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Самарканд, Узбекистан to Ухум, Узбекистан
Leave Samarkand in the morning and travel towards the Nuratau Mountains. Arrive in Ukhum village and meet your local host family. Discover authentic mountain village life through a guided walk around the village and surrounding hills. Depending on the season, learn about farming traditions, orchards, livestock, and everyday life in rural Uzbekistan. Participate in preparing traditional Uzbek dishes such as plov or bread together with your hosts and enjoy dinner in a warm family atmosphere. Spend the night in a local homestay in the mountains.
Day 2: Ухум, Узбекистан to Айдаркул, Джизак, Узбекистан
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic hike through the Nuratau Mountains with beautiful views over valleys and villages. Continue to Nurata to visit the sacred Chashma spring and the remains of the ancient fortress traditionally associated with Alexander the Great. Drive through the Kyzylkum Desert towards Aydarkul Lake where you can relax, swim during the warmer months, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Arrive at the yurt camp where you can experience traditional desert nomad life, enjoy an optional camel ride, dinner, and overnight stay under the stars.
Day 3: Айдаркул, Джизак, Узбекистан to Бухара, Узбекистан
Wake up in the desert and enjoy breakfast at the yurt camp before continuing towards Bukhara. On the way, stop in Gijduvan to visit a traditional ceramic workshop and discover one of Uzbekistan's oldest pottery traditions passed down through generations of master craftsmen. Continue to Bukhara and arrive in the afternoon, completing a journey through mountains, villages, desert landscapes, and traditional lifestyles rarely experienced by most visitors to Uzbekistan.
