Kuandyk is based in Aktau and organizes car tours across the Mangistau region of western Kazakhstan. He has been running group tours there for several years and drives the trips himself in an SUV.
His routes cover the main landmarks of the region: the spherical concretions at Torysh, the yurt-shaped mountain of Sherkala, the canyons of Airakty, the Tuzbair salt lake, and Bozzhyra, which he describes as the most visited spot in Mangistau. He also takes travelers to some of the area's underground mosques and other sacred sites. Trips typically run over several days and can be arranged for individuals or small groups.
For group departures, Kuandyk coordinates with other local drivers he has worked with, so larger parties can be split across vehicles while still following one itinerary. He plans the route around the number of travelers and what they want to see, and says he carries the equipment needed for the trips he runs.
He wants visitors to see Mangistau's landscapes at their best, choosing timing and stops with that in mind.
I can only leave a very positive review. From the very beginning, he proved to be helpful, attentive, and genuinely pleasant to travel with. He drives very well, is friendly and professional, and immediately creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. A big plus, especially for Italian travelers, is that he also speaks Italian. Having worked for an Italian company, he knows our country, our food, sports, and many other things very well, so you can really talk with him about almost anything. And he is basically a living jukebox — he knows an incredible number of songs, including plenty of Italian ones! 😂 He made our journey through Mangystau truly spectacular, but what impressed me most was his human side. Throughout the whole trip, he was always checking that everything was going well and asking whether we needed anything. What surprised me even more was that his care did not end when the tour was over. During our journey home, he messaged me to ask whether everything was going well, and later checked again to make sure we had arrived home safely. These small gestures say a lot about a person. Besides being an excellent driver and a fantastic guide, he is genuinely an exceptional person. Thanks to him, our trip to Kazakhstan became even more special. I highly recommend him, especially to Italian travelers who want to discover Mangystau with someone professional, friendly, and genuinely attentive to the people he travels with.
