Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia
Day 1 – Arrival in Western Mongolia / Meet the Eagle Hunters Arrival in Ölgii or Khovd town of Western Mongolia, where our team will welcome you at the airport. After the pick-up, transfer to a local coffee house for breakfast. After breakfast, drive to the Altantsögts nomadic summer pasture and visit a local eagle hunter’s family. Here you will begin your first experience of authentic Kazakh nomadic life, surrounded by open pastureland and mountain scenery. Guests can relax, meet the family, and learn about their lifestyle, traditions, and connection with golden eagles. In the evening, enjoy a traditional dinner and local music in a warm nomadic atmosphere. Overnight: Shared private ger next to the nomadic family.
Day 2: Tsambagarav, Mongolia to Tsambagarav Uul National Park, Mongolia
Day 2 – Horseback Riding & Nomadic Daily Life After breakfast, enjoy a horseback riding excursion toward the landscapes near Tsambagarav National Park. The ride takes around 3–4 hours and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and summer pastureland. A picnic lunch will be prepared and brought with us during the ride. After returning to camp, spend more time with the nomadic host family and enjoy a deeper cultural experience. Depending on the season and the family’s daily routine, guests may have the opportunity to observe or learn about traditional nomadic work such as milking animals, making cheese, preparing yogurt, cream, and other homemade dairy products. This is a rare opportunity to experience the living traditions of Western Mongolia in a natural and personal way. Overnight: Shared private ger next to the nomadic family.
Day 3: Tsambagarav, Mongolia to Tolbo Lake, Mongolia
Day 3 – Tolbo Lake & Uriankhai Archery Experience Today we drive to beautiful Tolbo Lake. On the way, visit a local Uriankhai archery family pasture and experience traditional archery activities. This adds another special cultural layer to the journey and offers insight into the traditions of local communities in Western Mongolia. Afterward, continue to Tolbo Lake and enjoy the peaceful lakeside setting. Depending on the weather, guests may swim in the lake, relax by the shore, or enjoy photography in the area. Tonight, camp by the lake in tents. For comfort, camping toilet facilities can be arranged, and a camping shower setup with hot shower service can be provided if needed. Overnight: Tent camp by Tolbo Lake.
Day 4: Tolbo Lake, Mongolia to Ölgiy, Ulgii, Mongolia
Day 4 – Explore Ölgii Town After breakfast, drive back to Ölgii town. Visit the local market and museum to explore more of the history, daily life, and culture of Bayan-Ölgii province. Later, enjoy local cuisine in one of the restaurants in town, with options such as Turkish, Uzbek, or Korean food. This evening gives guests time to rest and refresh after the countryside adventure. Accommodation will be in a local hotel with hot shower and Wi-Fi. Overnight: Local hotel in Ölgii town.
Day 5: Ölgiy, Ulgii, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Day 5 – Departure Transfer to the airport for your departure flight back to Ulaanbaatar.
