If you are looking for a medium challenging hiking tour this is the perfect one! You will experience camping in nature, next to the lake and in the valley of Golden hot springs before finally going back down to Aksu village - the ending point of the hiking tour. The tour's route makes a loop starting from Karakol National Park and ending in the village which is 12 km away from Karakol. Every day is between 4-6 hours of hiking. The lake is at 3600 m above the sea level.
Day 1: Transfer from Karakol town to Karakol National park entrance by car. Hike to Sirota camp, 12 km, 4-5 hours. Lunch/dinner. Overnight in a yurt
Day 2: Sirota camp – Keldike gorge by Alakol lake, 10 km, 5-6 hours. Lunch/dinner. Overnight in a yurt
Day 3: Keldike gorge – Altyn arashan, 10 km, 5-6 hours. Lunch/dinner. Overnight in a yurt
Day 4: Altyn Arashan – Aksuu village, 15 km, 4-5 hours. Lunch. Transfer from Aksuu village back to Karakol town.
It is recommendable to bring a hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, pants and comfortable shoes. You can stay either in a guesthouse or in a yurt. If you would like to sleep in a yurt it is recommendable to rent a sleeping bag.
Tips are not included but are welcome :)
If you have an altitude problem you should take diamox 24 hours before the trek and bring it along for the remaining days. The highest point is close to 3800m.
