Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Karkara, Kazakhstan to Saty, Kazakhstan
The guide-driver will meet you at the border of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the area of the Karakara checkpoint. Then, we drive to a small but original Tekes waterfall. The road itself is very picturesque. After a walk to the waterfall, we return to the parking lot to drive to the salt lake (300 grams of salt per liter). From its shore, in good weather, you can see the highest mountain of Kazakhstan - Khan Tengri, 7010 m. After a walk on the lake, we will head to a village near Kolsai Lake, where we will have dinner and overnight in a guest house.
Day 2: Saty, Kazakhstan
After breakfast, we drive to Kaiyndy lake. Type of road: off-road. The journey will take from 45 minutes to 1 hour. After a walk to the lake and by the lake, we return back to the village to have lunch there. After lunch we drive to Kolsai Lake, where a walk will take from 40 minutes to 2 hours. At the end of the day, we return to the village to have dinner and spend the last night there.
Day 3: Saty, Kazakhstan to Zharkent, Kazakhstan
After breakfast, we drive towards the Chinese border. On the way, we make a short stop at the black canyon (10 min). Upon arrival at the parking lot of the Charyn Canyon National Park, we will continue our journey on foot. The walk can take from 2 hours to 3 hours. After the walk we continue our journey by car. Lunch at the cafe. Then we arrive in a small town near the border with China, where we can see a mosque of the original architectural style with a roof in the form of a Chinese pagoda. This mosque is larger than the mosque in the city of Karakol in Kyrgyzstan. After visiting the mosque, we will also be able to see the Orthodox Church from the outside (if it is closed) or go inside (if it is open). Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Zharkent, Kazakhstan to Horgos, Kazakhstan
After breakfast, we drive to the Khorgos checkpoint, where travelers pass the border. The guide helps to the best of his ability.
