This unforgettable journey brings you to the gorgeous mountains of Pamir in Kyrgyzstan.
The ascent to Yukhina peak (5,130 m) is a trekking route that does not require special gear. Our program will allow you to get acclimatization and climb to the five thousander, get acquainted with the life of mountaineers, enjoy the views of the snow-white peaks and flowering meadows.
Our journey starts from the international airport of Osh city. Osh is the second largest city of Kyrgyzstan, situated at the east of Fergana valley and has ancient history.
From Osh we will drive to Base camp along picturescue Pamir Highway via Taldik mountain pass (3165m)
Base camp (BC) located in wide place called Achik-Tash at the foot of North wall of Lenin peak (7134m). BC is well equipped and uncrowded place with all you need for the comfortable staying and full recreation.
There are spacious rooms in wooden cottages or barrel tents with wooden flooring and mattresses. Each room/tent has light and socket to charge gadgets. The territory of the camp is lit.
In the evenings, you can spend time in a cozy bar, listening to guitar music over a cup of tea or something stronger.
In the BC meals are served three times a day, including vegetarian, gluten free and other types upon your request. There is drinking water available all time in dining room. Hot shower, toilet.
The Camp 1 (C1) at 4400 meters is also equipped with the comfortable tents with wooden floors, toilet, water. Meals are served three times a day with respect to guests’ food peculiarities.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Osh City, Kyrgyzstan to Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan
D1. Arriving to Osh city. Meeting with guide and group. Dist 12 km; drive 30 min. Arriving to Osh international airport. Guide will meet you at the airport and bring to hotel. According the time of arrival we’ll make plan for city tour, equipment check and briefing. The most famous place in Osh is the sacred mount Suleyman-Too (1110m) – holy place for local muslim society and part of UNESCO heritage. Accommodation in hotel 3*, breakfast at hotel (included), lunch/dinner in cafe (not included)
Day 2: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan
D2. Transfer to Achik-Tash base camp. Dist. 280 km; +2600m; 5-6 hours drive. Today after breakfast we will drive along scenic Pamir Highway to the base camp on 3600m a.s.l. Road goes via Taldik pass (3165m) and in good weather you can see Lenin peak from there. After drive down from the pass we entering in vide spreaded Chon-Alay valley and you will see huge Pamiro-Alay range with 5-6000m snow-white peaks on the horizon. Last 1-1,5 hour before Base Camp we’ll drive dirt road till the altitude 3600m. After check-in to rooms or comfortable tents we will go for short acclimatization walk around area. At the evening we will do team briefing. Accommodation: rooms/tents (3600m a.s.l). Meals: breakfast / lunch / dinner.
Day 3: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan to BASE Camp 1. LENIN PEAK, Kyrgyzstan
D3. Acclimatization hike to «Ginger Kate» peak 4130m. Dist. 9 km; + 750m / - 750m; 5-8 hours hike. After breakfast we go to nerby 4000+ m. peak with nice name «Ginger Kate», from the top we can enjoy breathtaking view to giant Lenin peak and surroundings. Afternoon we return back to base camp and will prepare stuff for the next day. Accommodation: rooms/tents (3600m a.s.l.). Meals: breakfast / lunch or lunchbox / dinner.
Day 4: ABC for peak lenin, kyrgyzstan to peak Yukhina, Kyrgyzstan
D4. Hike from Base camp to Camp 1. Dist. 11 km; + 950m / - 130m; 5-7 hours hike. Quite long and beautiful way is waiting for us today to reach Camp 1 at 4400 m a.s.l. We will hike via «Travellers pass» with panoramic view to glacier and top of Lenin peak. As an option your luggage can be delivered to Camp 1 by horses (1 kg = USD 3 one way) and you’ll enjoy hiking with light backpacks. Check-in to tents, rest, short acclimatization walk around. Accommodation: tents (4400m a.s.l.). Meals: breakfast / lunch or lunchbox / dinner.
Day 5: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan
D5. Acclimatization walk to glacier and mountain lake. Dist. 3-4 km; + 200m / - 200m; 3-4 hours walk. Proper acclimatization is the key to succesfull ascent to the summit. We spend this day walking to the glacier (is flat, don’t need crampons) and beautiful mountain lake. As well we can see and get closer to high-altitude mountaineerers’ life as the assention to Lenin peak starts here. Afternoon we will prepare and talk about summit day. Accommodation: tents (4400m a.s.l.). Meals: breakfast / lunch / dinner.
Day 6: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan
D6. Ascent to Yukhina peak 5130m. Dist. 6 km; + 750m / - 750m; 7-8 hours hike. Summit day starts early morning because we want to be at the top before midday clouds close great panorama to gorgeous Lenin peak from one side and view to Chon-Alay valley from another. Yukhina peak is not only panoramic point, the same time is great place to acclimatize if your goal is higher, for example Razdelnaya peak (6150m) or even Lenin peak (7134m). Descent to C1 goes same way. Accommodation: tents (4400m a.s.l.). Meals: breakfast / lunch or lunchbox / dinner.
Day 7: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan
D7. Descent to Base camp. Dist. 11 km; - 950m / + 130m; 3-4 hours walk. After breakfast we descend to the Base Camp along an already known path. We can use this day as a reserve day. In this case we’ll have to go down to the Base camp after summiting Yukhina peak. Accommodation: tents (3600m a.s.l). Meals: breakfast / lunch / dinner.
Day 8: Base Camp for Peak Lenin, Kyrgyzstan to Osh City, Kyrgyzstan
D8. Drive back to Osh city. Dist. 280 km; - 2600m; 5-6 hours drive. Today we return back to Osh city. Normally in Osh we can be around 15-16:00 (depends on road conditions). Upon arrival we have an option to visit spa complex with hamam and sauna. At the evening we will go to nice restaurant to selebrate end of our journey. Accommodation: hotel 3*. Meals: breakfast (Lunch and dinner not included)
Day 9: Osh City, Kyrgyzstan to Osh International Airport, Osh, Kyrgyzstan
D9 . Flight back home. Dist 12 km; drive 30 min. It is time to say “good buye” to hospitable people and beautiful nature of country. Wish to see you again, because there are so much to discover in Kyrgyzstan! Group transfer will bring you to the airport. Meals: breakfast (in case of early flight – lunchbox)
