The Huvsgul Lake National Park has all the elements you need for a fun-filled time-exotic, untouched nature, spectacular scenery, and exhilarating activities. Huvsgul Lake, the freshest and deepest lake in Central Asia, is positioned in a North-South direction with an oval shape. Its length is 133.4 km from north to south while the widest is 39.5 km from west to east. This lake has a volume of 380 km3 and it is second in Asia and 14th largest in the world. Huvsgul Lake contains 93.6 % of the total surface freshwater of Mongolia and 1% of world fresh water. Huvsgul Lake is surrounded by beautiful high mountains of the Khoridol Saridag and Bayan Mountain Ranges, along the west shore. The most interesting activity is a horse trip. Mongolian horse tends to be small, has tremendous stamina, and is well adapted to the harsh environment where they have survived over the centuries. The program offers 2-3 days ride.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Murun, Mongolia
Flight to Murun city & Huvsgul Lake National Park, Northern Mongolia In the morning, you will be transferred to the city airport for a morning flight to Murun city. Upon arrival at the local airport, we will drive to Uushig ancient Deer Stone Monument for (15 km) as another wonder of the Huvsgul region. This is the most clearly depicted deer stones left behind by bronze-age men. A deer, an arch, a shield, a horse, a knife, the moon, the sun, and a mirror figured belt were engraved on the stones.
Day 2: Murun, Mongolia to Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia
Huvsgul Lake (horseback riding) After breakfast, we will meet our local horse guide. We will make a horseback riding trip alongside the shore lake and the surrounding with Forest Mountains to have a better look at the beautiful Blue Pearl Lake Huvsgul. Overnight tourist camp
Day 3: Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia
Huvsgul Lake (horseback riding) After breakfast, we will saddle our horses and ride to meet a reindeer herder's family. We will meet at reindeer herders and explore their lifestyle, customs, and sacraments. Reindeer herders practice shamanism and live in tepees. They are the last reindeer herders who survived for thousands of years inhabiting the remotest subarctic taiga, moving between 5 and 10 times a year.
Day 4: Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia
Today full day, it is free time for you to be on your own. There is a great opportunity to hiking, kayaking or just enjoy wild nature to take photos. Also, you can ride a motor-boat around the lake. Tonight special dinner (Khorkhog is a barbecue dish in Mongolian cuisine).
Day 5: Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Drive to Murun city and Flight to Ulaanbaatar After breakfast, transfer to the local airport for a return flight to Ulaanbaatar. In the evening we will attend an amazing performance of Mongolian traditional music and dance.
