Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Ulgii, Mongolia
FLIGHT TO ULGII Fly to Ulgii town. Our tour guide will pick you up at airport and take you to your hotel which will be the one of the best. After the lunch at a restaurant, you will have time to explore Ulgii and its surroundings with your guide. Visit the town museum, the open-air market and a hill top lookout that gives good view of the town. Some rest at your hotel before the dinner. Free time to walk in the town center after the dinner. Overnight.
Day 2: Ulgii, Mongolia to White River, Mongolia
ALTAI TAVAN BOGD NP In the morning the drive heads toward Altai Tavan Bogd national park through beutiful mountain hills. The destination is the scenic Milk river valley, entrance to the majestic Tavan Bogd mountains. Drive takes around 7 hours including en route picknic lunch. Set up your tent by the river bank. The valley is summer camp for herder families (Tuvan people). Treks to the mountains are supported by the pack camels and horses from these families. Spend the night in this valley.
Day 3: White River, Mongolia to Base Camp Yeruu, Mongolia
TAVAN BOGD PEAKS AND GLACIERS Begin your trek to the magnificent Potanin Glacier below the majestic Tavan Bogd peaks. Experience the stunning landscapes as you hike higher up the hills. Enjoy your packed lunch amidst the breathtaking scenery. After a challenging walk, arrive by the Poatnin glacier moraine and set up camp. Enjoy an evening under the starry sky.
Day 4: White River, Mongolia to Malchin Peak, Mongolia
MOUNT MALCHIN SUMMIT The hike begins in the morning at the basecamp and continue along the magnificent Potanin glacier, offering stunning views and icy formations until reaching the foot of Malchin mountain. You will start for a non-technical climb suitable for hikers of various levels. When reached the top Malchin mountain provides panoramic views of the Tavan Bogd mountains and surrounding landscapes. Time can be spent taking photos and enjoying beauty. Descend back to the basecamp for a good rest. Tent.
Day 5: Malchin Peak, Mongolia to White River, Mongolia
BACK TO THE VALLEY. In the morning take a return hike down to the Milk river valley. It is a easy hike due to the downhill trail. Set up your tent and take some rest. You might prefer either a short horseback ride or just walk to a attractive small blue lake on the hill top nearby. Enjoy the rest of your time as you lik. Tent.
Day 6: White River, Mongolia to Khoton Lake, Mongolia
LAKES AREA OF NP Another entrance to the gorgous twin lakes of the park awaits you. Saying good bye to Tuvan people, you will drive to meet another herder people (Kazakh) who lives in the lakes region of the park. Drive takes another 6 hour throught the desert mountain valleys, over a couple mountain passes and enters low elevated forested mountain area. Occasional photo breaks at stone men.
Day 7: Khoton Lake, Mongolia
LEISURE DAY BY THE LAKE This is a great camping place for enjoying your time and nature around the lake by giving a break for long hour drives. There is a hill by the campsite where you will see Turkic time stone rock carvings. Enjoy your day by taking walks along the shores of the lovely lake. Take a dip in the lake and even go for fishing if have some interest. In short, enjoy and relax. Tent
Day 8: Khoton Lake, Mongolia to Baga turgen khurkheree, Mongolia
WATERFALL AND EAGLE HUNTER FAMILY After breakfast drive to a nearby valley to see a attractive waterfall. Both the drive and hike are short but the charm of the valley is endless. Hike back to the vehicle and stop at a golden eagle hunter family before getting back to the camp. Photo shooting time with the hunter and majestic big bird. Get a quick insight into the lifestyle of Kazakh herders and be impressed with the colorfully decorated Kazakh ger.
Day 9: Khoton Lake, Mongolia to Ulgii, Mongolia
RETURN DRIVE TO ULGII Drive back to Ulgii. Check in your hotel and throw yourself to the soft bed for good rest. Have dinner at a restaurant. Walk in the town center and visit souvenir shops for hand embroidered crafts.
Day 10: Ulgii, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
FLY BACK TO ULN. You will be transfered to Ulgii airport for your flight to Ulaanbaatar.
