Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Almaty
Almaty. You will be met in the airport and your first day of tour in Kazakhstan will start with sightseeing tour in Almaty. The tour starts with a ride to the Medeu Gorge (1,690 m) where you will have a walk around with a chance to take your mountain-view pictures and breathe the fresh pine-tree air, then you will take a cable car to Shymbulak ski resort area. You will get to the 1st level of ski resort, occupied by fancy restaurants, ski & snowboarding school and mountain hotel. Then you will go down the back way by cable car. Further your mountain adventure continues at the top of Kok-Tobe hill, where the tallest TV tower in the world is located (if to count from the sea level) and where you will get by the picturesque winding mountain road on the park eco-cars. In Kok-Tobe Park you can stroll along the winding paths of the park, admire the magnificent panorama of the city from the special observation deck. The first part of the tour ends with the short ride from the top of the hill to the center of the city by the famous Almaty cableway*. After lunch, the city part of the tour begins, and the first thing you will go to Almaty Museum, where you can get to know the history of the southern capital of Kazakhstan. After the museum, you will continue the tour and will have a short stop for the acquaintance with architecture and history of Abai Opera and Ballet Theatre. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight
Day 2: Almaty
Almaty – Big Almaty Lake – Almaty. The tour starts with sightseeing in central part of Almaty. You will visit a popular place for townspeople - the Green Bazaar*. Then the tour will continue in one of the oldest Almaty parks - Panfilov Park, where one of the most beautiful wooden buildings in the world - Zenkov Cathedral is located. You will also visit the Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame. After lunch you will continue your journey to the Big Almaty Gorge. There you will have around an hour to admire the scenery of Big Almaty lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Kazakhstan, and make a walk on the banks of the lake half-way to the water surface which is about 300 meters down from the road. Descend to the lake is stony and covered with seasonal shrubs and herbs so comfortable shoes or boots will make the walking more enjoyable. On the way back to the town you will visit the Falcon Farm, where you will enjoy a spectacular show with specially trained hawks, falcons and eagles - hunting with them is one of the most unique features of the Kazakh way of life. Show is open-air and takes around 30-40 minutes. If you are very impressionable and sensitive, please take into account that real chicks (lifeless) are used for feeding the birds during the training and the show. After visiting the Falcon Farm you will have your ride back to your accommodation with estimated arrival time around 7:00pm. * The Green Bazaar and Falcon farm don’t work on Mondays.
Day 3: Almaty
Flight. Breakfast in the hotel and check-out. Transfer to the Almaty International airport and departure.
