Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Артуч, Artuch, Таджикистан

Day 1: Samarkand Border – Artuch Alpinist Camp – Lake Chukurak (2455 m) Your journey into the heart of the Fann Mountains begins with a smooth and comfortable start from Samarkand. In the morning, our Uzbek driver will meet you directly at your hotel and transfer you through scenic countryside landscapes towards the Tajikistan border (approximately 1 hour drive). At the border, you will cross on foot into Tajikistan, where our friendly Tajik mountain team will be waiting to warmly welcome you and assist with the continuation of your adventure. From this moment, you officially step into one of the most breathtaking and untouched mountain regions of Central Asia. After meeting the team, the journey continues by private vehicle through spectacular scenery—flowing rivers, green valleys, small traditional villages, and dramatic mountain landscapes. The drive to Artuch Alpinist Camp (approximately 3 hours) is already part of the experience, as the surroundings gradually transform into pure alpine wilderness. On the way, you will stop for a traditional lunch in a local family home, where you can enjoy authentic homemade Tajik cuisine and experience genuine mountain hospitality. This is your first real connection with the culture and lifestyle of the region. Upon arrival at Artuch Camp, you will be welcomed with a fresh home-style lunch prepared from local mountain ingredients. After lunch, your guide will provide a detailed trek briefing, explaining the route, safety information, and what to expect in the coming days. In the afternoon, begin a gentle and relaxing acclimatization hike to Lake Chukurak (1–2 hours walking). The trail leads you through lush alpine meadows, peaceful valleys, and traditional shepherd settlements, offering a soft and beautiful introduction to the Fann Mountains. At Lake Chukurak (2455 m), you will arrive at a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by mountains and silence. Here you will experience authentic local life—visit a shepherd’s yurt, taste fresh dairy products, and enjoy traditional stone-baked milk bread prepared in a simple and natural mountain way. In the evening, set up your campsite right by the lake. Enjoy free time to relax, walk along the shoreline, or simply absorb the calm mountain atmosphere. Later, gather with your guide around a campfire for a short introduction to Tajik mountain traditions, stories, and local culture under a sky full of stars. This first day is not just a transfer and a hike—it is a soft and beautiful introduction to the spirit, culture, and natural beauty of the Fann Mountains. Overnight: Camping by Lake Chukurak Meals included: Lunch, Dinner Walking time: 1–2 hours Total hiking distance: 2km

Day 2: Артуч, Artuch, Таджикистан to Куликалон, Artuch, Таджикистан

Day 2: Lake Chukurak – Kulikalon Lakes – Bibidzhanat Lake (2800 m) After a peaceful night by Lake Chukurak, your second day begins with breakfast in the crisp mountain air, surrounded by silence, untouched nature, and the first light of the Fann Mountains. Today marks your first full trekking day, and to ensure maximum comfort, your main luggage will be transported by donkeys—allowing you to fully enjoy the journey without carrying any extra weight. The trail gently ascends through an incredibly scenic route, following rushing mountain streams and passing small waterfalls along the way. As you move deeper into the mountains, the landscape becomes more dramatic, revealing spectacular views of the towering peaks of Adamtash, Rudaki, and Mirali (all above 4000 m), rising sharply above the valleys. Along the route, there will be time to rest and enjoy a picnic lunch in a breathtaking alpine setting, surrounded by panoramic views of lakes and mountains. This is one of those rare moments where nature feels completely untouched, peaceful, and timeless. After lunch, continue exploring the famous Kulikalon Lake system—one of the absolute highlights of the Fann Mountains. This unique area consists of 14 interconnected turquoise lakes, hidden among ancient juniper forests and wide alpine meadows. The region is also rich in biodiversity, offering opportunities to spot rare mountain birds, wildflowers, and experience the quiet beauty of pristine nature. After exploring the Kulikalon basin, the trek continues across a high mountain plateau towards Bibidzhanat Lake (2800 m). This section of the route feels more remote and wild, with open landscapes and a strong sense of silence and freedom. Bibidzhanat Lake is known for its calm atmosphere and mirror-like reflections of the surrounding peaks. It is the perfect place to slow down, relax, and fully absorb the spirit of the mountains. Upon arrival, set up camp beside the lake and enjoy free time to rest after a rewarding trekking day. In the evening, gather around a warm campfire where your guide will share local folklore, mountain legends, and stories of the Fann region, bringing the landscape and its culture to life under a sky full of stars.
