Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Samarkand, Uzbekistan to Seven Lakes, Tajikistan
Samarkand → Border → Panjakent → Seven Lakes → Samarkand Expedition Flow Morning — Crossing Into Tajikistan Meet your driver in Samarkand and depart toward the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan border. After crossing on foot, you will meet your Tajik driver and continue your journey into the mountains. Panjakent — A Glimpse of Local Life Stop in Panjakent to experience the everyday rhythm of the region: Visit the Central Bazaar, filled with fresh produce, spices, and local interaction. A simple but authentic introduction to Tajik culture Into the Mountains — The Seven Lakes Continue along the Shing Valley into the dramatic landscapes of the Fann Mountains. Here you explore the beautiful Seven Lakes: Visit the first six lakes by vehicle Stop along the way for photos and short walks. Pass through traditional mountain villages. Optional Walk to the Seventh Lake Continue to Hazor Chashma, the highest and most peaceful of the lakes: Duration: 1–2 hours (optional) Difficulty: Easy Altitude: ~2,400 m Evening — Return to Samarkand After exploring the lakes, return to the border. Cross back into Uzbekistan and continue to Samarkand. End of the tour!
