Said organized a fantastic four days in the Fann Mountains for us. He always responded promptly and gave us a good idea of what we were getting into before we hit the ground. He was open to making changes to his set tours to fit our desired itinerary, but also used his local knowledge to let us know what was reasonable. Would recommend!

Very well organised trip, and it was lovely to learn more about the culture and history of the region over dinner with Saïd.
Great travelers and pleasant guests. Enjoyed talking to them!

Great experience overall utilizing Said's services to travel to Hisor and then onwards to Tashkent from Dushanbe. Fair price and great communication! Would recommend.

We were group of 13 friends traveling in Tajikistan and Said and his team made our journey very smooth and full of local experiences. From the early beginning, way before the trip actually started, we established communication with Said and his responses were always prompt, professional and friendly. Couldn’t be more satisfied having Said who is taking care for everything to make the trip memorable and meaningful.
Beautiful, happy, positive group of travelers. Ones that you would really love to have them as your guest again and again. Especially Marks, a tour leader that you don't differentiate between him and his group, very kind, and human in every manner. Love to see you back again guys for more adventures.

OUTSTANDING! Everything went so smoothly. From pick up in Uzbekistan to Tajikistan border. From the border to Khujand and return to Toshkent. Simply outstanding. My Khujand guide Layla and driver Saiyod were the best travel companions. As Layla translated for Saiyod we laughed, discussed history, talked about fast cars, families, etc. We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Lamb skewers of course. Layla's English was perfect. and Saiyod was able to understand my gestures and facial expressions as Layla translated my words. My Uzbekistan driver was outstanding. We used hand gestures facial expressions and translation apps to communicate. I felt safe and enjoyed the ride to the border. Crossing the border was interesting. Once on the Tajik side the Customs Official stamping my passport asked out loud "Tourist or Spy?". I went responded SHHHHHHH don't tell anyone. Everyone in the office had a good laugh.
Said did an outstanding job; from his first contact with me to suggesting we use WhatsAPP, to payment to checking on me while on the drive. When I called him he always responded quickly. I would recommend him to anyone traveling to Central Asia.

What a fantastic trip! Said was a brilliant organiser and host, super professional and helpful; he made sure we really got the most out of the 2 days and feel right at home. He is also extremely knowledgeable about Tajik history and culture, so ask him for the lecture! Our guide during the days didn't have the same level of knowledge, but this hardly detracted from the experience - he was utterly lovely and made sure we were comfortable and informed. Would not hesitate to recommend these guys!

We went on a day tour from Tashkent to Khujand and the whole experience was very interesting, to say the least! Said organised this and assigned us to a lovely and hearty guide, which made the whole difference. Can't say it's the most beautiful place I've ever been, but I found people there to be extremely nice and genuine, which is definitely the best asset of the place. Plus, is so refreshing to be in a place that is not overturistified, I would definitely recommend it!

I asked Said to arrange to transfer from Samarkand to Dushanbe, and Iskanderkul lake tour from Dushanbe.
Everything was well organized.
Said and his team were very helpful.
Whenever I had a problem, they patiently gave me a lot of advice.
Although Said didn’t accompany with me, he communicated frequently with drivers, checked to make sure everything was OK.
Thanks to them, I was able to enjoy my solo trip safely and with peace of mind.

We booked a day trip to Iskanderkul and also arranged transport to the Uzbek border, and everything went perfectly. The lake and surroundings were beautiful, and the trip was well organized and comfortable. Our driver/guide was punctual, friendly, and very reliable, which made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this service to other travelers in Tajikistan.

Everything was perfect. Me and my mother were completely satisfied with how Said adjusted the program exactly to our needs. The whole experience was perfect from the planning to the actual tour. Said and his family welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality. 100% recommended.
★★★★★
Had the best experience in the beautiful mountains of Tajikistan. Said and his family are so extremely welcoming. We slept like babies and were spoiled with so much good, fresh food!! Said's dad was the best driver and guide we could ask for. Dūsti man!
100% recommend booking with Said.
★★★★★
Everything was well organised. The border crossing was easy. We visited several places in Panjakent with a lot of history!
★★★★★
We went for the cheaper option of doing the tour without a guide. Everything went super! Said explained the process of crossing the boarded and was there ready on standby incase we didn’t understand our driver. Our driver Shamsedim was also the most caring and patient man. Plus even though he couldn’t speak English, he did his best to be informative about the area!
Dear Leslie,
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m glad to hear everything went smoothly and that the border crossing process was clear and easy for you. Shamseddin will be so happy to know you appreciated his care, patience, and effort to share about the area despite the language barrier. We truly value your kind words.

From the very first contact to the realization of the one-day tour to Panjakent and the Seven Lakes, everything went exceptionally smoothly and professionally. Said, the manager of Marco Polo Travel, made sure we received all the necessary information well in advance—clearly and accurately.
On the day itself, a transfer was arranged from our hotel to the border with Tajikistan, where the Marco Polo Travel driver was already waiting for us. He first took us to the market in Panjakent, where we put together a delicious picnic of lamb, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions.
Along the way, we stopped at a cozy homestay, where we were invited to enjoy our picnic in the living area of the house. The host warmly welcomed us and served traditional Tajik tea—a heartfelt and authentic gesture that made the experience even more special.
Our driver was a true master at handling the narrow, rugged road leading to the Seven Lakes. With great skill and attention to safety, he guided us through breathtaking landscapes, allowing time for photo stops and a relaxed walk to the seventh lake.
Thanks to Said’s careful organization and the team’s enthusiasm, this unforgettable journey was a true highlight of our trip.

Dear Alfred,
Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and warm review of your day trip to Panjakent and the Seven Lakes. I’m delighted to hear that every step—from our first contact through my clear, timely information to the smooth hotel transfer—met your expectations.
It’s wonderful that you enjoyed assembling a picnic at the Panjakent market and that your homestay host’s invitation to share traditional Tajik tea added an authentic touch. I’ll be sure to pass along your praise to our driver, whose skill on those rugged roads and mindful pacing really helped make the journey both safe and memorable.

Had really great day trip to the 7 Lakes. Although we only managed to reach 6 out of 7 lakes, the views were gorgeous. Both Guide & driver were polite & helpful. The journey kinda rough but everything goes well. The young guide was a bit rushed but I did enjoyed the activities.
Dear Athifah,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery on the Seven Lakes trip and that you found our guide and driver polite and helpful. It means a lot to us that you had an overall enjoyable experience, and I appreciate your kind words about our team’s service.
Please allow me to explain that this day trip is indeed a very long journey from Samarkand. The tour includes crossing the border into Tajikistan – a process that typically takes around an hour – and even a brief sightseeing stop in the ancient town of Panjakent. All of these factors make the itinerary naturally very tight. The roads in the mountains can also be quite rough, especially on long driving days. I’m sorry if this made parts of the journey feel uncomfortable or if our young guide seemed a bit rushed; he was doing his best to cover everything within the limited time we have on a one-day tour.
I understand that you mentioned we were only able to visit 6 out of the 7 lakes. Regarding the final lake, I must apologize again that we could not reach it on your tour. Unfortunately, on that day a landslide had occurred along the road leading to the seventh lake. This was beyond our control, and it made the road unsafe to continue. Because your safety is always our top priority, we decided not to proceed to the last lake under those conditions. I regret any disappointment this caused, and I hope you understand that we made this decision only to ensure everyone’s well-being. Otherwise it is only 5min drive from 6th lake to the 7th one.
Thank you again for your understanding and for highlighting the positive aspects of your trip. It was truly a pleasure to have you with us, and we take your feedback to heart as we strive to improve our tours. We hope you will consider traveling with us again in the future. Perhaps next time you can join us on a more relaxed, multi-day trip, where there will be ample time to explore every beautiful lake and enjoy the region at a leisurely pace.
Warm regards,
Said

Great trip to the mountains of Tajikistan! Good communication, well organized, nice driver.

It is a wonderful experience with Said and his team during our recent local tour in Tajikistan.
Said’s warm hospitality made us feel at home, and his extensive knowledge of the region was impressive. Whenever we faced any issues, he was quick to help, making our trip even smoother.
The tour showcased the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of Tajikistan, including Seven lake and Voru village, which I think we cannot reach there without Said. I highly recommend Said and his team for anyone looking to explore this beautiful country!
It was a pleasure hosting this young couple from Hong Kong.
Over the two days we spent together at our guesthouse, they were engaging, curious, and eager to exchange stories about their travels
and culture. They communicated effortlessly, respected all homestay rules, and were consistently punctual and considerate. I thoroughly enjoyed our dinners together on both evenings, which made hosting them truly memorable. Overall, they were delightful, upbeat, and easy-going guests whom I would welcome back.
★★★★★
Communication with Said and his team was perfect. They were very helpful and attentive.
This is an honest description of our experience:
- Driver in Uzbekistan was sharply on time, with a nice comfortable car (we were two).
- We drove peacefully until we reached the border. Everything went well there.
- A guide and a driver met us at Tajikistan part, perfectly on time.
- We got into a small bus, and visited a mosque and a bazar that were nice.
_ Throughout the journey, the guide Momen provided us with insights and information.
- On the road to the 7 lakes, after maybe 30 minutes, the route becomes very bumpy. I think the bus was not the perfect vehicle for this trip, maybe in the future they can offer 4x4 cars or something like that.
- The 7 lakes were magically beautiful. The rocky and muddy road, with bumps every second was the negative part (but we enjoyed our trip nonetheless).
- Lunch was at a local house. Our hosts were friendly and generous (but is a simple house in a village, do not expect anything fancy). The bathroom also was really from ages.
- The road back to the border was the same. Momen and the driver went an extra mile to help us buy a nice souvenir.
- The driver on Uzbekistan side was waiting for us and drove us back to the hotel.
In general, I would give this trip 4.5/5 rating.
Dear Omar,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your day trip to the Seven Lakes. We’re pleased to hear that you found our communication, punctuality, and the insights provided by our guide, Momen, to be excellent.
We would like to clarify a few points for future travelers and for you (that are already described actually in the tour package and you can see them in tour package details) :
• Off-Road Experience:
Please note that the tour package clearly outlines that part of the journey involves off-road travel. The bumpy road conditions on the way to the Seven Lakes are a natural aspect of the terrain, and while we use a 4×4 minivan (not a traditional minibus) specially equipped for such conditions, some bumps are unavoidable.
• Lunch Experience:
Our tour includes lunch at a local home, as mentioned in the tour details. This arrangement offers an authentic local experience, and while it may be simpler than a restaurant setting, it is the best option available in the area. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoyed the genuine hospitality of our hosts.
Your suggestions are very valuable, and we will certainly take them into consideration as we continually strive to improve our services. We are delighted that you enjoyed the magical beauty of the Seven Lakes despite the challenging parts of the journey, and we look forward to welcoming you on another adventure in the future.
Warm regards,
Said & Team

Said has seemlessly arranged the tour and had the guide meeting us at the borders. All without a hiccups. Thanks Said
Kind and happy travelers!

Guide was willing to negotiate price. Tour was just a driver, food and some information.

Brilliant trip hiking in the Fann mountains. Said and his family assembled an excellent and deeply experienced team of guides, and also was very helpful in sorting out visas (UK passport requirement - not easy). Decent food, equipment and superb donkey men - we would not hesitate to go back.
★★★★★
Amazing trip to the seven lakes, good guide, perfect driving through very tough roads. I definitely recommend this tour!
★★★★★
We were guests in the guesthouse of Said's family. From there we went on a 3-day-trekking to the Fan mountains, spent 2 days in the Seven lakes area, did several daytrips in the Zerafshan Valley and visited at last Isfarashan and Chudschand. The tour included the pick-up at the hotel in Samarkand and the transfer to Zerafshan Valley, and in the end the transfer from Chudschand to Kokand and drop-off at our hotel there.
Very professional, reliable and flexible organisation, extremely helpful for any wish or need you could have, very warm and heartful hospitality, food in abundance. Communication via WhatsApp functions extremely fast and is reliable. Said is a very interesting and reflected person and discussion partner with vast knowledge. We appreciated to spend the evenings with him. Unfortunately he was not able to be our guide all the time.
Besides Said we had 3 other guides. Two of them were good, spoke good english and were helpful. The third had poor kowledge and his english was on a low level. Said's father Shamsiddin was mostly our driver - he is an extremely good driver. Mountain roads in this part of the world are narrow, bumpy and unpaved and require good nerves to drive on them. We felt very safe with him. Moreover he is a very knowledgeable person and likes to share this with his guests.
If ever we go on another trip to Tajikistan, we would book again a tour with Said. We can warmly recommend him.

Great communication prior to booking. Driver and guide were promptly waiting for us as we crossed the border from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan. Our guide spoke good English. Everything was organised well. We had a great day, would def recommend!

Everything on the day was great and the trip was amazing. They treated me very well and the experience itself could have not been better.
I must say, though, I originally hired the trip and there was no-one else involved. Some time later, Said contacted me to ask if I would be happy changing dates and joining a group, to which I said yes as I didn't mind. Later I found out this was a similar experience for the rest of the group, only that in their case, when they came from individual to group option had a discount on the original price and I didn't.
Thank you for your feedback.
First of all, I have informed you about pricing before and you said totally okay and you are even happy to join.
So that is an agreed price and I didn't have any problems if you told you don't wanna join this and have a private tour.
And there is nothing secretive on price. We don't work only with indyguide and prices given to customers by partners are of course different. And each traveler depending on what source they are coming from get slightly different prices. There is obviously no fault of mine.
Anyway thank you for flexibility, and taking time to write a nice review. Really appreciated!

Excellent tour in Tajikistan with Said and his team! Our guide Shahzod and all the drivers were extremely professional and very knowledgeable. We visited all Seven Lakes in one day, had a great picnic by the mountains, hiked, visited the local market and the local mosque, visited a famous town in the mountains and had all the time we wanted to explore the beautiful nature. Smooth pick-up and drop-off at the border checkpoint in a very comfortable and spacious car, very well suited for the mountainous terrain. We slept in a comfortable traditional room in Said’s home and experienced the best of Tajikistan’s warm hospitality. Cannot recommend this tour and Said’s company enough.

Picking this short tour of Tajikistan was one of the best decisions I have made and it was one of the best things we did on our short tour of Central Asia. It is because of Said and his team that Tajikistan will definitely be a country that I return too.
Before we started the tour Said was always quick and professional to respond to any questions we had. On the first day of the tour we were greeted at the border by a super friendly professional guide and Said's dad who was our driver (So sorry I can't remember names!). The guides English was good and was able to explain to us a lot about the region and history, the driver was also knowledgable, although we could not communicate in English, the guide would translate what he said for us. They were both passionate and proud of their country. The first day we did the trip to Seven lakes which, although we went at the end of the winter and the lakes were not so full were still stunning, surrounded by snow capped mountains. We spent the night at Said's guesthouse in Ruknobod. The night we spent here, talking with Said and enjoying what can only be described as a feast, was amazing. The room and traditional bed were super comfortable and we had a great night sleep on extremely full stomachs, you won't go hungry here!
The next day we moved on to Khujand, it involved a long 4 hour drive, however the scenery on this drive was beautiful, worth it just for this. We then did several cultural stops in Khujand, learning more history about Tajikistan and the local area.
I would absolutely recommend Said and his team. They were super friendly, accommodating, and have great knowledge to share.
Thank you a lot Nikki for your time and writing one of the most inspiring reviews about us that make me and my team happy, and love our job more and more. It was super nice meeting you in our country. We hope to see you again at least for a tea 🍵 ) Stay healthy and happy 😊

My family had a great time with Said. He is professional and welcoming.
He talked a lot about Tajikistan's history, culture, and society, and it helped him understand the whole journey. We'd love to meet him again when we visit Tajikistan. Highly recommend him.
Thank you a lot Seonhwa for your warm review about me. I am really happy that I met such great and kind people. Hope to see you again and give my love to your family 👪

Everything was great from beginning to end. Easy booking process, always prompt answer, and a very well organized tour on the day. Highly recommended.

Said was a pleasure to deal with when organising our trip to the seven lakes. He was extremely clear, proactive and responsive in his communication. It was a shame he couldn't be our guide on the day, but the guide we were assigned was lovely.
Said's father also joined us and was very kind and patient with us. Hats off to our driver too who expertly navigated the mountain roads leading to the lakes. The roads are in poor condition, and the 2-hour ride to and from the lakes is very bumpy, but the lakes are well worth the effort! The hike from the sixth to the seventh lake takes around 45 minutes. Along the way, you are treated to beautiful mountain vistas and curious, delightful children from the villages. Lunch was served in a house close to the sixth lake. Because we went in spring, there wasn't enough firewood to cook hot meals, so a ready-made dish of boiled lamb and potatoes was sent from the city. There was also bread, fruit, salad and tea. The weather in the mountains can be volatile - up until the sixth lake we had fantastic weather; but then the temperature plummeted, and on our way down from the seventh lake, we were caught in a hailstorm! My advice would be to bring warm clothing in any season just to be safe. Prior to visiting the seven lakes, we had a brief tour of Panjakent and saw a historical mosque and the bazaar. Our last stop of the day was the Sarazm archaeological site with 5,500 years of history - fascinating! As you can probably tell, it is a very long day. We left our Samarkand hotel at 7am, and got back to Samarkand at 8.30pm! Despite this, everyone (including the Uzbek driver Said hired to drive us to and from the border) was warm, courteous and patient at all times. All in all, we had a memorable trip and would highly recommend it. The prices are really reasonable too (you won't find better elsewhere). We would love to see the rest of Tajikistan one day and would not hesitate to enlist Said's help again.
Thank you very much dear Ruzhe for your kind review)) To be honest your review made my day. And it encourages me to improve my professionalism in this field and improve our services quality. Hope to meet you someday in Tajikistan!

Seven lakes are absolutely amazing. Communication with Said is smooth and easy. I need visa to enter Tajikistan and Said helped me with any information needed. The driver (Said's father) and the guide were friendly and arranged the trip well. The only downside is that the road in the mountains is really bumpy. The lunch was cold. but this is understandable as it was still not the tourist season when we visited and the restaurants were not opend yet. Overall a good trip!
★★★★★
I had a great tour with Said. He kept in touch with me in the days leading up to the tour to let me know what was going on, and did exactly what he said he would do--he met me at the border, and he and his father drove us through the Fann Mountains. I highly recommend Said.
★★★★★
Said was very helpful for all the duration of the tour and very friendly. His father was our driver and he carried us via the hard mountain streets with no issues, proving himself as skillfull and professional. I discovered Fann mountains and seven lakes which revealed to be a beautiful surprise. Keep up the good work and wish all the best for the future

The tour to the 7 lakes region in Tajikistan was fenomenal. Said was unavailable that day, but he sent his father and an interpreter to the Uzbek/Tajik border to pick us up and they drove us up the beautiful mountains. We met several locals and had a delicious lamb stew in one of the cozy village houses. We also hiked up to the last lake that was covered in snow and checked out the local market. He was very attentive and communicative the whole time and the booking was very easy to do. Highly recommend!
★★★★★
7 lakes is an amazing destination with great views. My guide was great, knowledgeable and spoke good English. I was also able to stop for photos when ever I wanted and never felt like I was rushed to anywhere.
Jesse was one of my those travelers who has no fear of anything. He was quite fast in terms of hiking that even sometimes it was quite hard for me to catch him up:) It was a very short period of time to for at one time traveling, talking, telling stories, telling your opinions. However from the talks that we made and behavior that he has I can easily say that he is a great guy!
Hope I will have you again as my guest and I can show you more beauties of our magic land!

Said is a very good guide, he is very knowledgeable about history, nature and politics of Tajikistan. I learned so many things from him about Tajikistan in such a short time. I am very thankful to him that he made it all possible for me to visit all the places I wanted to see in such a short time. He made all the tour very comfortable for me, and I saw amazing sites in Tajikistan. I would definitely recommend Said as a guide in Tajikistan :)
Tugcenur is so an energetic and brave girl plus a cute girl as well! I like her very much, as we were very excited to talk about any topic. We were good friends with Tugcenur during this short period of time) I will be waiting for you, for your next trips to Tajikistan.

Said prompt response helped me organize the tour in a productive manner. He presented different ideas and tried to incorporate my needs as much as possible. His attitude was very professional and helpful. Trip in Tajikistan was fantastic and I gained so much memorable experiences. We started our journey from day1) sightseeing in Khujand, Istravashan, day2) Istakderkul lake and home stay at Voru village, day3) seven lakes and various sightseeing, and day4) sight seeing in Penjikent. I highly recommend Said. His English is also very fluent so there won’t be any difficulties in communication.
I think Li is a very kind man. Thanks for your being positive always!

We went trekking for ten days in the remote area of Yagnob Valley and Fann Mountains. They organized all things very well and did the best to make our stay very pleasant.
They know very well the area because they came from Varu, the ancient village of the Yagnob Valley. We had porters, donkeys, and a medical doctor too.
They are the kindest people I’ve ever known during a trip like this. They helped us to solve every problem during the trek and at the end of the trip, we were hosted in their house in Panjakent. After trekking, we went to Uzbekistan for seven days to visit Samarcanda, Bukhara, and Khiva and the trip was very well organized. Good hotels and meals and good guides to explain us all the aspects of the ancient towns.
I can only recommend them for kindness, competence, and friendship.

I passed a wonderful holiday last year in August between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with Said and three friends of mine.
