Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to White River, Mongolia
We will greet you at the airport and take you to Altai Tavan Bogd national park. The drive starts through desert mountains to Tsagaan Gol Valley, which is the entrance to Tavan Bogd mountains. Thisc scenic valley is resided by Tuvan herder people during the summer. Pitch your tent and get good rest for next day. Overnight in tent.
Day 2: White River, Mongolia
Go for a horseback hike to view majestic Tavan Bogd peaks and Potanin glacier. Return to the valley in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is at your disposal.
Day 3: White River, Mongolia to Ulgii, Mongolia
Saying goodbye to the majestic TavanBogd and Milk river drive back to Ulgii. Check in your hotel. Have dinner at a restaurant. Walk in the town center and visit souvenir shops for hand embroidered crafts.
Day 4: Ulgii, Mongolia
FESTIVAL DAY 1. Drive in the morning to Falconry hill which 10 min drive long for the festival day 1. The festival starts with a parade of eagle hunters and then goes on with the main event of the festival which is eagle hunters display their eagles’ skills starting with calling their eagle from a distance. The festival is accompanied by several Kazakh traditional games such as tug of war over a goat carcass on horseback, coin pick while galloping and camel race. You will spend the whole day at falconry hill giving break for lunch.
Day 5: Ulgii, Mongolia
FESTIVAL DAY 2. Drive to the Falconry hill for the second day of the festival. The second day is a bit more interesting than the first because today golden eagles try to catch a fox skin dragged by a hunter and the eagle which catches the skin in the shortest time gets the highest score. You will also view Kokpar (tug of war over a goat carcass while on horseback).
Day 6: Ulgii, Mongolia to Chikhertei, Mongolia
EAGLE HUNTER FAMILY. Drive to a nomad herder families who will be living in the mountains. The family man, our host is a golden eagle hunter who has been hunting with golden eagle for 30 years. Warm welcome by these hospitable people.
Day 7: Chikhertei, Mongolia
HUNTING DAY 1. We will ride horses and go to the nearby mountains tops to witness the Kazakh eagle hunters in action with their golden eagles.
Day 8: Chikhertei, Mongolia
HUNTING DAY 2. We will ride horses and go to the nearby mountains tops to witness the Kazakh eagle hunters in action with their golden eagles.
Day 9: Chikhertei, Mongolia to Ulgii, Mongolia
BACK TO ULGII. You will head back to Ulgii town. Check in the hotel. Hot shower and some rest until the dinner.
Day 10: Ulgii, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
RETURN FLIGHT TO ULAANBAATAR. We’ll transfer you to the airport. Fly out of Ulgii to UB.
