Issyk Lake And Turgen Bears Waterfall

Day 1: Almaty, Kazakhstan to Turgen, Kazakhstan

The Issyk Gorge is one of the most picturesque and interesting places in the Trans-Ili Alatau. The road along the mountain slopes reveals stunning landscapes that can be admired from observation platforms. The walk to the lake from the parking lot is about 1.5 km. A stone staircase leads to the lake. And here, after descending, Lake Issyk, the “mountain Chameleon,” lurked. In different weather conditions, it changes its color from turquoise and deep emerald to green and mirror gray. During the excursion there will be another interesting object along the route. This is the historical place of the Kings of the Saka Empire. You will get acquainted with the archaeological monuments of the Saki culture and the fantastic beauty of Lake Issyk. The Turgen Gorge is located approximately 80 km from the city of Almaty. Along the bottom of the gorge stretches a powerful river with the same name, which means “fast” in Mongolian. In August this river is actively used for rafting. The Turgen Gorge is replete with waterfalls. The most accessible Waterfall is Bear. A scenic path about 1.3 km long leads to it. And at the end of the ascent, a foaming stream falls down from a height of 30 meters, breaking on the rocks. Here you can relax to the sound of the water and enjoy the panorama of the gorge. Trout farms were organized in the gorge on the river. Visit one of these during the excursion. Here you can choose to fish for rainbow trout yourself and enjoy lunch in the mountains.
