One of our employees will welcome you at the airport. Our staff is there to accompany and assist you with the check-in procedures at your hotel in Kathmandu. A short meet & greet with Maaike and/or Chuda will take place. You will receive tips, answers to all your questions, and a trekking briefing. Today you can take your time exploring lively Kathmandu. Did you know that Kathmandu counts multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites? You will find the beautiful temple complex of Swayambunath on a green hill on the city's western side. The complex is also known as the monkey temple. You can already guess which animal you are likely to spot. On the other side of the city, you can visit Boudhanath, the Tibetan Buddhist heart of Kathmandu. Lastly, you can have a lovely walk to Pashupatinath, a sanctuary for Hindus located along the Bagmati river. Here you can find the holy men who live around the temple, also known as Saddhu's. During the ride to Pokhara, you will stop at least twice to stretch your legs and enjoy the surroundings. There is so much to do in Pokhara. Options are endless: adventure sports, cultural visits, some wonders of nature or just relaxing. With the right weather conditions, you both can see the snowy peaks of the Annapurna chain as well as its wonderful reflection in the lake. Moreover, you can take a boat trip to the island with a Hindu temple, rent a mountain bike or go paragliding. You will spend the night in a standard hotel in Pokhara.
Before reaching Bas Kharka, you pass multiple remote farms, climb up through the forest and orange groves. Moreover, there is time to visit a local school and health post in the small village Magar. You will spend the night in a community lodge or homestay in Bas Kharka.
The day starts by hiking through the forest until you arrive in a small village. Here you have a beautiful view of the valley and the chance to absorb the local lifestyle. Reaching Nangi, there is much to explore; visit the school and several local projects or witness how locals make paper from plants. You will spend the night in a community lodge or homestay in Nangi.
Prepare yourself for the longest day of hiking in which you climb through untouched forests and have breath-taking views of the mountains. From the Mohare Hilltop, you are surrounded by spectacular Himalayan views of, for example, the Machhapucchre and Dhaulagiri. Surrounded by nature so green, you are likely to sport yaks grazing in the meadows. You will spend the night in a community lodge or homestay in Mohare Hill.
Today’s short but just as beautiful walk will lead you to the path on the mountain hill. From here, you have fantastic views in every direction. Afterwards, your route continues to descend through the forest until you arrive in Danda Karka, a remote village far from civilization. On the other hand, the mountains seem so close by you can almost touch them. You will spend the night in a community lodge or homestay in Danda Kharka.
Today your walk continues to go further down as you descend to the small village of Tikot. The landscape changes slowly. Upon arrival, you can explore the village’s narrow streets and authentic houses. Moreover, you can enjoy a cultural performance with songs and dances from the Magar community or visit a school. You will spend the night in a community homestay in Tikot.
Unfortunately, today is the last trekking day. First, you will descent a steep path to Tiplyang, which rewards you with a magnificent view of the wild Kali Ghandaki River below. From here, a private car will drive you to Pokhara, where you can spend the remaining part of your day. If you’re up for a message, then consider going to Seeing Hands, a social enterprise where blind people are trained to become masseurs. You will spend the night in a standard hotel in Pokhara.
Enjoy your free day to explore all Pokhara has to offer. You can visit the colorful old bazaar where they, besides clothing products, also offer food. The bazaar is home to the Bindhyabasini Temple, one of the most important sanctuaries in the city. You can also take a boat across the lake to enjoy a walk through the wood to the World Peace Pagoda or visit the Devi falls, Mahadev Guptheswore, and Maendra Caves. Lastly, you can go paragliding above the lake overlooking the Himalayas, make a rafting trip or rent a mountain bike and explore surrounding villages. We can arrange activities or visits for you, just let us know what you want to do and we will include it in your itinerary. You will spend the night in a standard hotel in Pokhara.
Upon arrival, you have free time to go out and explore all the beauty Kathmandu has to offer. There are several great fair-trade shops and social enterprises with beautiful handmade goods made by marginalized women. In case you prefer to spend your time to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then the Garden of Dreams, a historical garden located in Kathmandu's city center is the place to be. You will spend the night in a standard hotel in Kathmandu.
