About this tour
On this tour you will be able to get acquainted with the traditions and customs of the Mongolian and Kazakh peoples. Staying in a Mongolian ger and in a Kazakh yurt. Hear Mongolian and Kazakh national musical instruments like «Moron khuur», «Dombira» and throat singing. Visiting families of local nomads, eagle hunters and a shaman. Experience the daily life of nomads. Every day you can try dairy products and taste several types of national dishes, get acquainted with the technology of their preparation, so you can learn Mongolian cooking when you staying with a Mongolian local families. You can also visit the Khustai National Park and see the Takh horses and the Elsen-Tasarkhay sand dunes.
Our tour starts with a drive from Ulaanbaatar to Ulgii by car, visiting these places on the way and ends flying back from Ulgii to Ulaanbaatar.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Elsen Tasarkhai (Sand Dune Mini Gobi), Högönö-Taranaiin-Hüree, Mongolia
Visit Khustai National Park and see horses Takh and Elsen Tasarkhay (Mini sand dunes, these places are on the way to Ulgii, 285km, 4-5 hours drive). Camel riding on the sand dunes. Visit a Mongolian nomadic family. Overnight stay with a local nomadic family. L.D.
Day 2: Elsen Tasarkhai (Sand Dune Mini Gobi), Högönö-Taranaiin-Hüree, Mongolia to Govi-Altai, Mongolia
Long distance drive on asphalt road to Gobi Altai province.(745km 8-9 huors drive)Overnight stay with local nomads. B.L.D.
Day 3: Govi-Altai, Mongolia to Khovd, Mongolia
Drive from Gobi-Altai province to Khovd city. ( 445 km, (5-6 hours drive). Visit to the family of a Mongolian throat singer. Overnight stay with family. B.L.D.
Day 4: Khovd, Mongolia
One more resting day with the family. Visit to the special place of the Khovd city. Overnight stay with family. B.L.D.
Day 5: Khovd, Mongolia to Mongolian Customs Office, Ulgii, Mongolia
Transfer from the city of Khovd to the region of Ulgii. (220 km 3-4 hours drive). Visit a family of eagle hunters. B.L.D.
Day 6: Ulgii, Mongolia
Visit another family of eagle hunters. Horse riding. 5 km. Meeting with a young female eagle huntre. Staying with Eagle hunters family. B.L.D
Day 7: Ulgii, Mongolia
City tour of Ulgii. Visit to the "Friendship " hilltop where you can see beautiful view of the Ulgii. Visit to the local museum and handmade souvenir shops. Visit to the shaman. Overnight at my house. B.L.D.
Day 8: Ulgii, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Day 8. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Breakfast.
