A comprehensive overview of the main historical and holy places of all Kazakhstan. A three-day tour of the world-famous city of Turkestan and its surrounding memorial and historical complexes, such as the great mausoleum and complex of Saint Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the burial complex of Saint Arystan Bab, the ruins of the ancient medieval city of Otyrar in the desert, the ancient archaeological settlement of Sauran, ancient Sairam and its many mausoleums, the old citadel of Shymkent, etc.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: shymkent to sayram
Day 1 Pick up at the hotel and transfer to the ancient city of Sairam. Sairam was one of the centers on the way of penetration of Islam into the Great Steppe in the Middle Ages. Sairam is the birthplace of the famous great Sufi poet and mystic Khoja Ahmed Yassawi and the burial place of his famous parents. Visit to the three main mausoleums of the holiest people buried in Sairam. Lunch in Sairam and tasting famous local Uzbek samsa baked in natural tandyr (clay oven) and a walk around the center of Sairam. Transfer to the city of Shymkent and a visit to the old citadel of the city of Shymkent. A walk around the main sites of the citadel and a visit to the museum of ancient artifacts. Then transfer to the holy springs of Koshkar Ata and a walk along the river. Return to the hotel and overnight stay in Shymkent.
Day 2: Shymkent to turkistan
Day 2 Pick up from a hotel in Shymkent city. Direct drive to the ancient ruins of Otyrar (130 km). Ancient Otyrar is one of the ancient cities of Kazakhstan with the former name Farab. Then transfer and visit to the medieval memorial complex Arystan-Bab, which is number one among the holy places in the entire Central Asian region. In the afternoon, transfer to the city of Turkestan (60 km). Lunch at a local restaurant and tasting of local nomadic cuisine. Accommodation at the hotel. Excursion to the famous mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and a visit to the main attractions of the complex. Evening walk through the entertainment complex Caravan Saray. Overnight in the city of Turkestan.
Day 3: turkistan to shymkent
Day 3 Pick up at the hotel. Direct drive to the ancient ruins of Sauran in the desert (60 km). Excursion and walk around the ruins of Sauran. Return to the city of Turkestan. Lunch at a local restaurant. Then transfer to the mausoleum of holy Gauhar Ana, the daughter of the great Sufi. Short city tour and visit to the local Green Bazaar. In the afternoon, transfer to the city of Shymkent. End of the tour.
