Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to kalaikhum, Tajikistan

1. Dushanbe-Kalai kum 353km We`ll drive through Kulyiab city, Kuliab is the largest province in Tajikistan and also where the best cotton is grown. We stop at the top of Shar-shar pass for a view of the Nurek dam, and then in Vose where we visit the Khulbuk - Kala (9th-11th century). We stop for lunch in Vose, then cross the Shurabad pass, through several villages. We arrive in Kalai-kum in the early evening. Kalaikum is the first district of GBAO. Overnight at home stay.

Day 2: Kalaikhum, Tajikistan to Khorog, Tajikistan

2. Kalai kum-Khorog 240km From Kalaikhumb we leave towards Khorog with some 240kms of terrain ahead of us, and the promise of spectacular scenery along the way. The road joins the river Panj, which in turn forms the border with Afghanistan. The contrast across the river valley is telling.

Day 3: Khorog, Tajikistan to Bulunkul, Tajikistan

3. Khorog-Bulunkul 200km Visit local market and except from Pamiri traders, you can see Afghani traders as well. On Pamir Highway turn to western part to experience change of landscape from lowlands to high desert like barren valleys. Arrive in the coldest and highest part of the Pamir, Bulunkul village. Later drive up to see the neighboring Yashilkul Lake. Overnight in a local home stay.

Day 4: Bulunkul, Tajikista to Turumtaikul, Tajikistan

4. Bulunkul-Roshtkala 180km Leave the tiny village heading to Roshtkala valley. Cross Maisara pass to observe the view of Turumtai kul lake, Jooshankoz village and reach todays destination through high Pamir mountains and running rivers. Stay at local home stay.

Day 5: Turumtay lake, Tajikistan to Kalaikhum, Tajikistan

5. Roshtkala- Kalai kum Our journey takes its route through the same route that we came. Observe view of Afghanistan and scenic view of sky scraping mountains, farming lands and small villages with locals’ typical lives. Overnight is the same guesthouse in Kalai kum.

Day 6: Kalaikhum, Tajikistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan

6. Kalai kum-Dushanbe via Northern part Comeback to Dushanbe via Sagyr Dasht and Childara (Forty gorges). Twists and turns willtake you to Rogun where the biggest Hydro power station is being built for many years. Arrive in Dushanbe and relax before farewell dinner in one of the restaurants.
