This itinerary will give you extensively features of nomads culture in central part of Mongolia and unique lifestyle and culture of surviving tribe of reindeer people. This amazing road trip would be full adventure and fun. It will let you immerse wild life and nomads culture and lifestyle.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Elsen Tasarkhai, Mongolia
Mini Gobi. This place is 280km away to west south from UB. It's located in the national park "khugnu tarna". It's surrounded by splendid rocky mountains and sanddune has 80km long from north to south. National Park is absolutely picturesque and Panaromic area. it enables us camelriding and horseriding, hiking. Also mini gobi becomes great chance for travellers who have no time to visit Mongolian great gobi desert , because the view and athmospere is similar to the great gobi.
Day 2: Elsen Tasarkhai, Mongolia to Orkhon Valley Natural and Historical Reserve, Mongolia
Kharkhorum & waterfall. in the morning we drive to kharkhorum city. The city was our ancient capital during 13th century, period of chinggiskhaan, to be honest this city now looks just modern little town of Mongolia. But there are some ruins ,excavations , artifact, historical monuments and museums that proves it was the big centre of politics and trade between Asia and Europe. Also there are Erdenezuu monastery which was originally constructed during16th century. It is our first Buddhist town . Then we drive to Orkhon valley and water fall. This spot is surrounded by beautiful forest mountains and burnt black stones /lava/ from a volcanic eruption. road is so terrible, it will take us slow journey by car in this terrible road. But view is unique wonderfull. there are some nomadic families and we would see many yaks.
Day 3: Orkhon Valley Natural and Historical Reserve, Mongolia to Tsenkher Hot Spring Resort, Altan-Ovoo, Mongolia
This day we leave Orkhon valley to Tsenkher hot spring.The 86°C is supposed to have curative properties for arthritic joints and other ailments. Also spring is kept in high pressure under the ground flow rate is high. 10 litres per second, the spring includes mineral contents,containing everything form simple calcium sodium to sulphuric. Hot spring will help you to keep your skin softly and naturally. Daytime you can have sumbath, when it gets dark you can enjoy gazing stars in the swimming pool .
Day 4: Tsenkher Hot Spring Resort, Altan-Ovoo, Mongolia to Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, Mongolia
We drive to the National Park "khorgo&Terkhiin Tsagaan nuur". This spot is amazing chance for photographing. Because of volcanic eruption ,nature has unique formation. it has beautifull white lake with many kinds of swimming birds ,khorgo volcano crater is situated at an altitude of 2210 m above sea level, 100 m deep crater,wide 200m, there are also dozens of small crater near the main crater. One of them is big deep ground cave with ice inside, which is called "yellow dog's hell" , just next to "yellow hell's dog's there is icy wall, it is left even in hottest summer of some years. There are plenty of burnt black stones /lava/ of volcanic eruption. beautiful camping spot near by lakeside and ger camps
Day 5: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, Mongolia to Erdenet, Mongolia
This day we continue our journey to "Zuun lake" near by shine ider town. why we stay here for 1 night is from "khorgo" to khuvsgul lake is too far for 1 driving, it's too rush time for 1 day, so we had better stay in somewhere beautifull spot ,so we choose this spot.
Day 6: Erdenet, Mongolia to Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia
Khuvsgul is most visited touristic place. It's called as a Mongolian Switzerland. Khuvsgul lake is the beautifull, surrounded by high mountains,full of forest. It's really pure watered spot. It includes 2% of world pure water. long of lake is 136km, widestwidest area is 33km. We stay in tourist camp lakeside . there we could do boat tour,horseriding, hiking to the highest spot of mountains and to see the almost whole lake . That would be amazing, gorgeous, exciting.
Day 7: Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia
We will take a break for another 1 day here.
Day 8: Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia to Tugul, Mongolia
We leave khuvsgul lake to Ulaan-uul. generally, after khuvsgul lake we focus on reach the reindeer people community . But ,to be honest we normally 2 days spend on the road to this community/from khuvsgul lake to reindeer people community. Because always earth road is very hard , bumpy and terrible. but view of nature is amazing. so first stop is Ulaan You little town. We stay there in little hotel
Day 9: Tugul, Mongolia to Gurvansaikhan, Mongolia
After breakfast we drive to Tsagaan nuur little town. This town is the closest town to reindeer people community. 55km from them. Why we stop here is our horse guide live in this town. there is no road get destination by car, only chance is horses or reindeers. cos many small and deep pure watered rivers and springs, also road is very swampy. impossible by car. So people go there only by horses. Tsagaan nuur town is surrounded by big white lake, mountain, forest. but the town looks very old, usually very old stylish wooden houses, very similar to Russian town during communist time. it seems like very outdated and still communist time. You know, in the last century , Mongolia was socialist country under power of Russia. So town is only chance of reindeer people to buy things and food for them This day we should stay here.
Day 10: Gurvansaikhan, Mongolia to East taiga
Day 10-12 We drive around more than only 20km by car, then for remaining distance we need to start horseriding to reindeer people. We will stay here, 3 days. there we have an opportunity to explore their unique life, this is an amazing chance for taking 1000 of photography. Riding reindeer, sleeping in teepee, talking to them. perhaps it might sounds like to meet people community who live in the past of 100-200 years. This community is surviving tribe of Mongolia, the numbers of people is getting lower. Mongolian name of community is Tsaatan
Day 11: east taiga to Ulaan Taiga, Mongolia
We will take a break for another 1 day. Because it's our main destination to explore their unique life, we have chance to take 1000 of photography.
Day 12: Ulaan Taiga, Mongolia
We will take a break for another 1 day, to continue our journey, to enjoy their unique lifestyle. we want to spend more time there , to explore and recognize their mystery how do they survive in this world. to know them as much as possible.
Day 13: Ulaan Taiga, Mongolia to taiga
Day13 We will do horseriding back to Horseguide's family in tsagaanuur town . We will have horseriding around 20km . Then our vehicle will pick up us on the road. So we will stay in same town again
Day 14: Tsagaannuur to Murun - Tosontsengel Road, Tosontsengel, Mongolia
Day14. This day we drive to Murun city. We will stay In guesthouse or hotel
Day 15: Murun, Mongolia to Bulgan, Mongolia
Day 15. We will continue our journey to Uran crater. Uran crater is located about 480km to northwest from Ulaanbaatar. It's the volcanic erupted mountain about 20000-25000 years ago. Surrounded by beautiful forest mountains and beautifull view.
Day 16: Bulgan, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Day 16. After breakfast we drive back to Ulaanbaatar.
