Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Dushanbe, Tajikistan
The entire day is dedicated to a guided city tour. First of we will visit Rudake Park, National library, White House, National state seal and House of parliament. After it we will walk in National park to make photos of Ministry of Inner Affairs and the 2 biggest National Flag in the world – 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. After excursion in Central Museum you will have lunch. Then you will visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments. To feel real life you should visit Asian bazar.
Day 2: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Iskanderkul, Tajikistan
Our trip today is to high Mountain lake – Iskanderkul (2 255 m. a. s. l.). It is situated in the famous Fann Mountains. This fabulous area is one of the best places of Central Asia. The road to the lakes goes over Anzob pass (2 572 m) with amazing panorama views. After arrival to the lake you will go for a walk along it beaches.
Day 3: Iskanderkul, Tajikistan to Panjakent, Tajikistan
In the morning we will drive to Penjakent. The city of Penjakent ("five villages") is located in a picturesque Zeravshan river valley. Quite possibly the five villages started the history of this remarkable city which originated in the 5th-8th centuries AD. Penjikent of that time was one of the most important cultural and crafts centers of Sogd. It was even named "Central Asian Pompeii". It was a superbly fortified well-organized city with a ruler's palace, two temples, markets, rich dwelling houses decorated with numerous paintings, wooden and clay statues of ancient gods. The ruins of this ancient city were found only in the last century.
Day 4: Panjakent, Tajikistan to Seven Lakes, Tajikistan
We will drive today to the Fan Mountains. They are one of Central Asia's most popular hiking areas. At this place you will have time to go for short hiking. There road goes along a gorge where 7 lakes are located. They are situated on different altitudes and have different colors. Also you will meet local people that live at that area. It will be very interesting to see their way of life.
Day 5: Seven Lakes, Tajikistan to Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Drive to the Tajik Uzbek border “Jartepa”. Going through visa and customs formalities. Meet by local Uzbek team. Drive to Samarkand. Arrival and accommodation at hotel.
Day 6: Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Start exploration of Samarkand: Gur-Emir Mausoleum, the tomb of Timur himself and his descendents. The octagonal complex with marble and onyx interior and a gold ceiling was completed in 1404; Reqistan square surrounded by the three splendid madrasahs. In the time of Timur, six main trade routes intersected this square. The oldest Ulugbek madrasah with its blue tilled facade was built in 15th c. Two centuries later the Sher-Dor madrasah was built with the similar blue tilled façade. When in 17th c. the Tillya-Kari madrasah was finished the square was harmoniously completed. The latest has a built-in mosque with breathtaking decorations in which more than 1 000 m² of gold leaves were used. Today Registan square is considered as the most beautiful square in Central Asia. Day 7: Samarkand, Uzbekistan to Bukhara, Uzbekistan
Drive to Bukhara (300 km). Make stop and visit Rabat-i-Malik caravanserai - ruins of medieval monument of the Karakhanid period. Nearby reservoir Sardoba Malik supplied caravanserail with water. Stop in Guijduvan (40 km from Bukhara), at the family own ceramic manufacture, under protection of UNESCO. Visit to small collection of unique Uzbek ceramics.
Day 8: Bukhara, Uzbekistan
The town retains much of its Oriental character and has more than 140 unique monuments of the Islamic architecture. Visit to the central complex Lyabi Hauz situated around the pool with a fountain. The square was built during the 16th - 17th centuries. Long ago there were approximately 119 such “pools” in Bukhara: the Russians, however, closed most of them for hygiene reasons. Around Lyabi Hauz there are several madrasahs, the most important of which are those of Nodir Divan-Begi, Khanaka and that of Kukeldash. Mogoki Attari Mosque dates from the Zoroastrian and Buddhist period. We tak a walk under the trading domes: three ancient trading centers: Tok-i-Sarrafon – Moneychangers Bazaar, Tok-i-Tilpak Furushon – Cap makers Bazaar, Thai Zargaron - Jeweler’s Bazaar. Bazaars are full of various articles and souvenirs. Poi-Kalyan Ensemble, the symbol of the city; Fortress Ark (citadel), a fortified residence of Emirs of Bukhara;
Day 9: Bukhara, Uzbekistan to Khiva, Uzbekistan
Depart to Khiva which is probably the most nostalgic and cultural in this region. This is a long drive through the Kyzyl-Kum desert along Amu-Darya River. Arrival in Khiva and accommodation at hotel.
Day 10: Khiva, Uzbekistan
Spend the day exploring of Khiva We visit the most important monuments of the city, such as the Kunya-Ark citadel with the Kurinish Khana; Zindan, the mausoleums of Seyid Allauddin and Pakhlavan Mahmoud; the Juma - Friday mosque with its 218 decorated wooden columns and the caravanserai; the Palace of Tash Hauli with its beautiful courtyard of khans harem; madrassah and minaret of Islam Khodja
Day 11: Khiva, Uzbekistan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Drive to Urgench airport (30 km) for flight HY–52: Urgench Tashkent Arrival in Tashkent. Drive to the hotel
Day 12: Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Old City part of Tashkent - Khast-Imom Complex (XVI-XXI century) where the world famous Quran (VII century) of Caliph Uthman – Ottoman has been preserved. In Khast-Imom visit Madrasah of Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, Mausoleum of the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari - Chor-Su Bazaar, the age of which is more than hundred years - Amir Temur Square - surrounded with the buildings of the “Uzbekistan” Hotel, University of Law (former Women’s Gymnasium), the Amir Timur Museum, well-known Tashkent Chimes and the Forums Palace - one of the most grandiose architectural structures in Tashkent
