Terskey Ala-Too 10 Days Guided Ski-Touring Trip
About this tour
Welcome to Kyrgyzstan – small mountainous country in Central Asia. More than 90% of territory covered with mountains, 40% of it is higher than 3000m. This gives us great possibilities for winter activities.
In this program I invite you for ski-touring trip on east side of country in Terskey Ala-Too mountains. This range located on south side of the biggest lake in Kyrgyzstan – Issyk-Kul, which is second biggest mountainous lake in the world, after Titikaka.
Most of precipitation falls in east side of Terskey Ala-Too range and creates fantastic slopes for ski-touring and freeride. The first part of our trip we will spend in Karakol town, exploring nearby gorges. Every day we drop our staff in 4WD truck and drive to chosen gorge to enjoy gorgeous views during our skins up. After tasty lunch on slope we’ll have fun exploding snow on the skiing down. Accommodation in cozy guest house.
Then we will move to Jyrgalan village which is actually the heaven of freeride. Here we’ll live in traditional Kyrgyz yurts with taste of nomad life. Variety of ski-touring routes and options for downhill in this area let you feel the true spirit of winter Kyrgyzstan.
Optionally we can do snowmobiles or snow-cat skiing day to have fun several runs on fantastic slopes without skinning up.
After skiing we can have rest and warm our bones in hot springs or Russian sauna.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Bishkek to Karakol
Arriving to Manas Int. airport and drive to Karakol town. 420km. 6-7 hours. Breakfast on the way. Briefing. Equipment check. Last preparations. Overnight in guest house. Lunch and dinner in cafe.
Day 2: Karakol to Karakol ski resort
Day on Karakol ski resort. This day we will use to warm up and getting first feeling of Kyrgyz snow. If necessary we can do training of transceiver search. Overnight in guest house. Lunch and dinner in café.
Day 3: Karakol to Bozuchuk gorge
Drive to nearby gorges, ski-touring. Coming back to Karakol town. Exact routes will be chosen by guide, depending of group and snow conditions. Overnight in guest house. Lunch on slope, dinner in café.
Day 4: Karakol to Jergez gorge
Drive to nearby gorges, ski-touring. Coming back to Karakol town. Exact routes will be chosen by guide, depending of group and snow conditions. Overnight in guest house. Lunch on slope, dinner in café.
Day 5: Karakol to Turgen' Ak-Suu gorge
Ski-tour in Turgen’ Ak-Suu gorge. This day after ski-touring we’ll drive to Jyrgalan village. Overnight in cozy Yurt camp. Lunch on slope, dinner in camp.
Day 6: Jyrgalan village to Jyrgalan Village
Ski-touring in Jyrgalan area. Exact routes will be chosen by guide, depending of group and snow conditions. Overnight in Yurt camp. Lunch on slope. Dinner in camp. In days 6-8 as option we can do snowmobiles or snow-cat skiing. (extra charge)
Day 7: Jyrgalan Village
Ski-touring in Jyrgalan area. Exact routes will be chosen by guide, depending of group and snow conditions. Overnight in Yurt camp. Lunch on slope. Dinner in camp. In days 6-8 as option we can do snowmobiles or snow-cat skiing. (extra charge)
Day 8: Jyrgalan Village

Day 9: Jyrgalan village to Bishkek
Drive Jyrgalan - Bishkek. Morning drive to Bishkek, on the way visiting red sandstone canyons, called Fairy tale for short walking around. Accommodation in hotel in Bishkek. Lunch in café on the way. Farewell dinner in restaurant in Bishkek.
Day 10: Bishkek to Airport
Flight home. Today we saying good bye to Kyrgyzstan and with hearts full of memories coming back home.
