About this tour

This 10-day expedition is designed for travelers who want to see the geographical and cultural transition between Southern and Northern Kyrgyzstan. We focus on the high-altitude route through Kazarman and Tash-Rabat, which is rarely visited by standard tours due to road conditions. We use only 4x4 vehicles to ensure safety and access to remote areas like the Son-Kul and Tash-Rabat mountain passes.

Day-by-day itinerary

eeting at the airport. We’ll climb the sacred Sulaiman-Too Mountain (UNESCO site) to see the city from above. Later, we’ll explore the 3,000-year-old Jayma Bazaar, tasting famous Osh flatbread and local spices.

This is where the real adventure begins. We’ll leave the asphalt behind and take our SUVs over rugged mountain passes. It’s a day of pure off-roading through remote landscapes that very few tourists ever reach.

Driving through the heart of the Naryn region to reach a 15th-century stone caravanserai. We’ll explore the mysterious rooms of the fortress and spend the night in a yurt camp near the Chinese border.

Climbing over the scenic "33 Parrots" pass to reach the alpine lake of Son-Kul. We’ll meet nomadic families and settle into our yurts on the shore of the most beautiful lake in the country.

A peaceful morning by the lake. After lunch, we descend to Kochkor village. Here, we’ll join a felt-making workshop where local women show the ancient craft of creating "Shyrdak" carpets.

On the South Shore of Issyk-Kul, we’ll witness a private Eagle Hunting demonstration. Later, we’ll walk through the red sandstone formations of Skazka (Fairytale) Canyon, which looks like the surface of Mars.

We’ll visit the massive waterfalls in Barskoon Valley and then reach the iconic "Seven Bulls" and "Broken Heart" red rocks. We will stay overnight in the Jeti-Oguz mountains to enjoy the alpine forest.

City tour in Karakol: visiting the wooden Dungan Mosque and the Orthodox Cathedral. After tasting the local "Ashlan-Fu," we’ll drive along the North Shore of Issyk-Kul to the lush green valley of Chon-Kemin.

Morning activities in the valley. On our way to the capital, we’ll climb the 11th-century Burana Tower. The tour ends in Bishkek with a farewell dinner and a final walk through the city center.

Day 10: Бишкек, Кыргызстан

We’ll start a city tour: visiting the heart of the capital — Ala-Too Square, the Oak Park, and the Victory Square. We’ll finish our expedition at the Osh Bazaar for some final souvenir shopping, followed by a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant to celebrate the completion of our 1,000 km journey.

What to know

Road Conditions: This is a 4x4 expedition. We will travel through high mountain passes (Kazarman) and unpaved roads. Be prepared for long drives and bumpy sections—it's part of the adventure! Altitude Awareness: We will spend nights at altitudes up to 3,016 meters (Son-Kul). Please consult your doctor if you have heart or respiratory conditions. Weather Variability: Even in summer, mountain weather changes rapidly. It can be +30°C in the valleys and near 0°C at night in the yurts. Pack layers! Nomadic Comfort: In yurt camps (Son-Kul, Tash-Rabat), facilities are basic. Toilets are often outside, and showers may not be available every day. This is the price of an authentic nomadic experience. Cash is King: While we cover most costs, local markets and small cafes only accept cash (Kyrgyz Som). I will help you with currency exchange upon arrival.
