In this wonderful 7-day trip, you will have the chance to discover the Mongolian Gobi desert and steppe, from its fascinating history to the Gobi Desert itself, with its famous singing sand dunes. Through Kharakorum city you will reach the great steppe into Gobi and experience the unique nomadic lifestyle for 2 days. In the Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, the Khongoryn Els sand dunes are said to sing when the wind blows. The park also features the deep ice field of Yolyn Am canyon where dinosaur fossils have been found at the red "Flaming Cliffs" of Bayanzag. This is the perfect chance to be in touch with wildlife.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar You will land in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. At the airport, you will meet with your translator who will take you to the city center. If your flight arrives early, you will be taken on a city tour on this day. Your luggage will be dropped off at your hotel before you enjoy the city tour. City tour: The National History Museum, the Chinggis Khaan Square, Gandantegchinlen monastery, and lunch or dinner with your guide.  Then you will be taken to do some shopping if desired before being dropped at your hotel and then see you tomorrow!

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Kharkhorin, Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar to Kharakorum 380 km This morning, you will drive to the countryside. On the way, there will be a stop at a big supermarket to buy whatever you might need. After that, you and your team will drive to the old Mongolian capital city, Kharakorum. Here you will see the historical museum and Erdenezuu monastery. Your guide will give you all the information about the history of this beautiful place. On the way, you will see the Elsen tasarkhai sand dunes and will have a chance to take photos and walk on the sand hills. Also, this place is called mini Gobi; 80 km long, 3~5 km wide 15 ~20 meters high long sand dunes which are called in Mongolian ‘Elsen tasarkhai’. At the end of the day, you will stay at a tourist camp in Kharakorum after the museum and monastery. A local restaurant will provide your lunch. Day 3: Kharkhorin, Mongolia to Ongi Monastery, Mongolia

Kharakorum to Ongi On this morning you will drive to the beginning of the Mongolian Gobi Desert, where the Ongi monastery can be found. It was said to be a fabulous place back in the 17th century but it was destroyed by the Machus and the Soviets at the end of the 17th century. Now we have just ruins left from this Buddhist temple, but many people are still visiting the monastery. Your guide will give you all the fascinating information about this place. You will have lunch somewhere on the way, cooked by your team. The bank of the Ongi river is a very nice place to take a rest and here you will stay at a tourist camp. 280 km of drive Breakfast -tourist camp Lunch -your team Dinner -tourist camp accommodation- GER

Day 4: Ongi Monastery, Mongolia to Flaming Cliffs, Mongolia

Ongi to Bayanzag Today you will drive to the Bayanzag flaming cliffs. Bayanzag means ‘red flaming cliffs’ which is where many bones and dinosaur eggs have been found. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Mongolian Gobi desert and your guide will share with you every detail about this incredible place. The highlight of this area is the sunset watched from its cliffs; the colors and light are a breathtaking sight not to be missed! Day 5: Flaming Cliffs, Mongolia to Khongoriin Els, Mongolia

Bayanzag to Hongoriin Els Today your team will drive to the Hongoriin els which are one of the longest Sand dunes. These are 180 km long 5-15 km wide and 300 meters high sand dunes! Here you will ride a camel next to the sand dunes, and after camel riding, climb to the top of the sand mountain, if you are lucky enough to do so by sunset, you will be taken away even more by its beauty. Your meal will be provided by a tourist camp as a takeaway to have wherever you stop. 130 km of drive on the bumpy road Breakfast -tourist camp Lunch – picnic lunch /in the box from tourist camp/ Dinner – nomad family Accommodation – Ger

Day 6: Khongoriin Els, Mongolia to Yolin Am Ice Field, Mongolia

Hongoriin Els to Yoliin am On this day, you will drive to the Yol valley canyon and the Dungenee canyon. These are amazing places to hike around the canyon and be amazed by the views. Early in the morning, you will leave from Hongoriin els sand dunes. On the way, you will stop at Dungenee canyon, where you will continue the journey on a small hike. Between the big canyons, you will have lunch, prepared by your team. In the canyon, you will have a chance to look for the Yoll bird /Gypaete vulture/. It is a kind of Vulture that is one of Mongolian biggest birds. Around Dungenee and Yol canyon, you will be able to see the mountain goat ibex and wild mountain sheep Argali. After the hike, you will arrive at a tourist camp to spend the night. 160 km of drive Breakfast -your team Lunch -your team Dinner-tourist camp Accommodation – Ger

Day 7: Yolin Am Ice Field, Mongolia to Baga Gazariin Chuluu, Mongolia

Yoliin am to Baga gazriin chuluu On this day, you will be taken to our last point of the Gobi desert and steppe. By now you will have seen many places in the wonderful Gobi and on this last day, the scenery will completely change and turn into a rocky and flat but lovely view. This is Baga  gazriin chuluu, where very interesting rock formations can be seen. You will be taken to an old monastery in the rock and one more cave. Here you will stay with nomads. Lunch will be taken from the previous tourist camp and will be enjoyed surrounded by the peaceful views of the steppe. 400 km of driving Breakfast -tourist camp lunch -your team Dinner-nomad Accommodation – Ger

Day 8: Baga Gazariin Chuluu, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

On this day, the journey back to Ulaanbaatar... around 250 km ! on the way you will stop at a local restaurant for lunch and will continue to Ulaanbaatar, and when you arrive in the city we can take you shopping at the cashmere factory store, souvenir shop, etc. At 6 PM you will be able to enjoy a wonderful Mongolian traditional concert played by the Mongolian folk art band Tumen Ekh ensemble. Here you will see Mongolian traditional singing, dancing, shamanism, khoomii, /throat singing/ etc. it will be an amazing and amusing full hour. After the show, you will be taken to your hotel where we can say thank you and goodbye to the team! 250 km of driving. Day 9: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
