Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Almaty to Almaty Oblysy
First day: leave the Almaty city at 8 am. Way to the Bashy village takes near of 4 hours. Have lunch in guesthouse in Bashy village. Then arrive near of 1.5 hour to visit the Aktau mountains and Katytau. Overnight in guesthouse in Altyn Emel.
Day 2: Almaty Oblysy to Almaty
Second day: can start at 7 am and visit the Singing Dune, walking to the top of the dunes. Then way to the Charyn canyon near of 2 hours. Walking through the canyon near of 2 hours. It takes 2 km in one direction. Lunch near of the river (picnic). Back to the city at 9pm.

You should be ready it can be really hot there during the summer days. I suggest to have long sleeve clothes, hats and suncream.
