Tupkaragan & Bozzhyra Trip From Aktau 3-day Tour
About this tour
We start our trip from Aktau and go the heart of Mangystau peninsula -Tubkaragan area. Our trip goes thru huge Kapamsay gorge, Underground Mosque Shakpak ata, Shakpaktysay gorge, Torysch valley, Sherkala&Ayrakty mountains, Kyzylkup and Bozjyra and return back to Aktau. Most part of the trip is off-road.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Aktau, Kazakhstan to Shakpak Ata Necropolis and Underground Mosque, Ashchimuryn, Kazakhstan
We will visit the most beautiful Underground Mosque Shakpak ata which history dates back to IX-XIII . Mangystau is famous with its Underground mosques. And Shakpak Ata is the most beautiful place to visit. This place truly could be called as meditation holes. You will listen to stories about Sufizm trend in Islam, see the Arabic inscripts in the walls ,and enjoy the history of this unforgettable place. Then we travel thru Shakpaktysay, another wonderful gorge, cross the main road and head to Torysch valley. Later today we will camping in the Ayrakty mountains.
Day 2: Shakpak Ata, Kazakhstan to Bozjyra, Aktau, Kazakhstan
We travel thru Shakpaktysay, another wonderful gorge, cross the main road and head to Torysch valley. This is a fantastic place where "The Gods played the bowling"! It is full of 1-4 m high stoneballs. After small walking and truly enyoying the place with these formations , we will go to see Sherkala&Ayrakty mountains, the place also full of amazing legends and stories. We will be camping today in Bozjira.
Day 3: Bozjyra, Aktau, Kazakhstan to Aktau, Kazakhstan
Bozzhira is a section of the Ustyurt plateau chinks, with an unearthly landscape in white chalk tones, canyons, mountains-towers, mountains-castles, mountains-yurts, and 2 peacks with a height of more than 200 meters. We will see today Bozjira from upper panoramas, and drive to Kyzylkup "so called Tiramisu", and later afternoon will head to Aktau.
