Hi, I’m Peka! I run a business with over 10 years of experience providing authentic adventures in Mongolia. GOLDEN EAGLE FESTIVAL SHAR NUUR LAKE, 20KM FROM ULGII TOWN 3-4 Oct 2026 OVERVIEW The 27th Annual Golden Eagle Festival will take place in Shar Nuur (15 kilometers from Olgii) on October 4-5, 2026 Bayan-Ulgiy province is well-known for being home to nomadic eagle hunters and the center of the Altai Mountains. Around 100 eagle hunters gather to compete in nomad horse games. Come and appreciate the breathtaking nature adorned with ancient mountains, rivers, and Mongolian heritage. Join us to see a fantastic event with some outstanding hunters! The two-day event started in 1999 as a way to promote Kazakh heritage. At the time of creation, the festival saw the participation of about 40 eagle hunters. With now around 100, the festival has become one of the largest gatherings of Kazakh. Eagle hunters put their best costumes, with both the robust Mongolian horses and the full-feathered eagles wearing decorated tacks. Beyond the expert display of the hunter’s’ skills, both humans and birds, the festival also features traditional Kazakh games such as Tiyin Teru, Kyz Kuar, and Kukpar. Peka is a local guide who pays incredible attention to detail. Because she knows Western Mongolia so well, she can put together really personalized trips according to seasons and whether. She's super thoughtful - not only does she take you to the festivals and sights you want to see, but she also arranges authentic activities that let you experience the unique nomadic culture of the Kazakh people. During the trip, she was incredibly attentive, often anticipating and meeting our needs before we even had to ask. Her team, including the driver and cook, were super professional while being just as friendly as she was. Western Mongolia has beautiful scenery, but what left the deepest impression on us was the local nomadic culture. We were only able to truly experience their way of life because of Peka's thoughtful arrangements, local network and knowledge. We can't imagine our trip being nearly as amazing without her.

I had a very great trip with this tour operator who facilitated what I wanted to do in the area. Went on a 7 day horse trek through Altai Tavan Bogd with Bek my guide and Ivan the horse caretaker.
