About Tashi
Hello, I’m a Bhutanese independent tour guide with over 20 years of experience guiding travellers through Bhutan and the wider Himalayan region. I come from a journalism background, which has shaped the way I travel and guide. I enjoy connecting places with their history, people, culture and stories, and helping travellers understand Bhutan beyond what they see on the surface. Bhutan remains my home and my greatest area of expertise. Over the years, I have guided travellers through its mountains, valleys, monasteries, villages and towns, creating journeys that are personal, flexible and adapted to each guest’s interests. My interest in nature and conservation has also led me to develop specialist knowledge in this area. In 2020, I had the opportunity to undertake professional training as a nature guide at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER), one of Bhutan’s renowned institutions for conservation and environmental research. The following year, I undertook a further one-and-a-half-month bird expedition and training, deepening my knowledge of Bhutan’s birdlife and natural environment. My experience also extends beyond Bhutan. I have led trips in India, Tibet and Nepal, including the Annapurna and Manaslu Circuit treks. More recently, in spring 2026, I had the opportunity to lead an expedition to Lobuche East in Nepal, which we successfully summited. I particularly enjoy working with travellers who are curious, adventurous and interested in experiencing places beyond the standard tourist route. Whether your interests are Bhutanese culture and history, trekking and mountains, nature and wildlife, birdwatching, Buddhism, photography, local communities or simply discovering the Himalayas at a slower pace, I enjoy creating meaningful experiences around those interests. After 20 years of guiding, I believe the best journeys are not simply about visiting places. They are about the people you meet, the stories you hear and the experiences you share along the way. I look forward to welcoming you to Bhutan and sharing my country and the wider Himalayas with you.
