Yerkin was born and raised in Mangistau, in western Kazakhstan, and works as a local guide and driver since 2017. He drives his own 4x4 SUV and runs private multi-day tours across the region rather than guiding on foot.
His routes cover the main Mangistau landmarks: Bozzhyra, Tuzbair, Sherkala, the Valley of Balls, Karaman-Ata, Kyzylkup and the remote Karynzharyk depression, usually over three to seven days with camping and yurt stays along the way. He adjusts the itinerary to weather and to what guests want to see, and carries full camping gear, including tents, mattresses and sleeping bags, with a Starlink connection available for remote stretches.

We had an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night trip with Yerkin! He is an exceptionally skillful driver who navigated us safely and efficiently throughout the entire journey. His English is fluent, making communication completely effortless. Right before our trip started, we ran into a unexpected issue and thought we would have to cancel last minute. Yerkin quickly solved the problem, and saved our vacation—it ended up being one of our most memorable trips ever. His vehicle is clean, comfortable, and very well-equipped. A huge bonus is that he offers Starlink rental, which kept us connected even in remote areas. On Yerkin's recommendation, we spent one night in a yurt and one night camping. The yurt was clean and cozy, complete with a heater, shower facilities, and great breakfast and dinner provided. For the camping night, all of Yerkin's gear was in top-notch condition (though you can easily request hotel stays instead if you prefer). We couldn't have asked for a better driver and host. We highly recommend Yerkin to anyone planning a trip.

Yerkin was excellent throughout the trip. He has an impressive knowledge of the Mangystau region and clearly has a lot of experience with this kind of tour. He gave very good advice along the way and was able to adapt the itinerary according to the weather and the conditions. He was also very well organised, had all the necessary equipment and spoke excellent English. He was genuinely helpful and attentive — for example, on the way back to Aktau, he kindly took another traveller with us who had to catch a flight and could no longer continue the tour with his friends. Yerkin is an excellent and careful driver, which made a real difference given the long distances and remote roads in Mangystau. I travelled alone and felt completely safe with him throughout the entire trip. The tour itself was an extraordinary experience. Mangystau is absolutely breathtaking, and having a knowledgeable local guide made it possible to really enjoy the landscapes and discover the region in the best conditions. I would definitely recommend this tour and Yerkin: his professionalism, experience and kindness made the whole experience even better.
