Baibolat is a freelance guide and driver based in Bayan-Ölgii, in far western Mongolia, with six years of experience running trips through the Altai region. He guides and drives personally, and also works with a wider team of guides, drivers, cooks and horse handlers depending on the trip.
His listings cover the range of ways to see the region: jeep tours through the western provinces and the Altai Tavan Bogd area, multi-day trekking and horse riding trips with pack camels, the Eagle Festival and eagle hunting experiences, and homestays with Kazakh nomadic families. Routes often take in Khoton and Khurgan lakes and Tuvan and Kazakh nomadic life.
On tour, groups travel with a driver, a cook and, for trekking sections, a horse guide with camels for the gear. Transport is by private 4WD or a 4x4 Russian van, and trips can run from short jeep tours of under a week to longer trekking or horse riding itineraries of up to twelve days. Baibolat draws on long-standing local contacts to put together trips centred on the landscape, nomadic culture and wildlife of western Mongolia.
