On weekends Saturday or Sunday, we organize one day tours to Iskanderkul, the lake around which there are many legends. We will take a walk to the Fan Niagara waterfall, look into the Macedonian Cave and recharge with spring water. Tours is guaranteed on any weather conditions. Transport: either Hyuindai Starex 4WD, 8seats, or Mercedes Sprinter, 19 seats You will be accompanied by a guide. Childukhtaron means 40 girls. According to a legend 40 brave girls had to fight against conquerors. The battle was unequal, and the girls had to retreat to the mountains. They knew that they could become victims of invaders, and did not want to be captured. At the last moment, they turned to God and asked to turn them into stones and thereby save them from shame and violence. The prayer of the girls was heard, and they became rocks.

Awesome tour to southern Tajikistan! We went with a small group to Childukhtaron and other sites nearby. We were fortunate enough to be traveling while poppies were blooming, so we visited the poppy fields as well. It was raining during our visit, so we didn't camp, but stayed in a very comfortable hotel instead. I'd definitely recommend this tour if you'd like to get outside of Dushanbe and have limited time. It's helpful if you can speak Russian, but not necessary for the tour.

It was nice meeting Kevin and his friend Louis in Dushanbe. We were happy to take them to Childukhtaron, though road conditions were challenging. We will be more than happy to meet Kevin and Louis again!

Booking through Indyguide was easy. Prior to the trip, we were informed what to bring, clothing attire, meeting point, guide clothes and vehicle numbers. It was very useful info for us. Our guide, Gulrukhsor is warm and friendly. She equips us with information about Tajikistan geography and legend of Iskanderkul. Though she barely speaks English, we were lucky to have a local translator in our group. Gulrukhsor pays attention to hiking safety and well-being of guest/passengers. It’s good that we had short toilet breaks on the roads. After lunch, we had ample time to wander around the gorgeous lake. The ride back to the city was fun. I highly recommend this memorable trip.
