Exploring the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

Trekking to the Tavan Bogd Peaks

The Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is home to the highest peaks in Mongolia, including the stunning Tavan Bogd Massif. Trekking in this area provides breathtaking views of glaciers and the unique opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife. The base camp for climbing the massif is accessible by a two-day trek from the nearest drop-off point. Hiring a local guide is recommended for navigating the challenging terrain and for a richer understanding of the area's natural beauty.

Petroglyphic Complexes of the Altai

The park is also famed for its ancient rock art, with the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Petroglyphic Complexes offering a window into the lives of the region's early inhabitants. These petroglyphs, scattered across the park, depict scenes of hunting, rituals, and daily life from as far back as 12,000 years ago.

Attending an Eagle Festival
